Well, I went ahead and ordered the Magnaflow exhaust last week. Our stock order at the dealership should arrive in approx 3 weeks so I'm excited for it to get here. I'm going to have one of our mechanics install it for me.

I do have a question for anyone using an aftermarket exhaust though...... should I just use the included bolt-on clamps or should I have it welded? What would be the pros or cons to doing this other than more time spent on the install?
Any responses are welcome as long as they don't have to do with EB Bob stripping.......

there are no pro's to welding on a system that comes ready to bolt on. cons of welding it on are: expense, having to butcher the pipes if it ever has to be removed for service, having a cut up exhaust system if you later decide to sell it ... ect ect

I had the same question when I put the Borla on my IS-F and it was suggested to have it more easily removable and use clamps.
They explained that if it's installed correctly that leaks should not happen.

Like me, there's a bunch that would like an exterior sound clip of the Borla.

x2 on this! I really wanted to hear the Borla while I was making a decision on my exhaust however at almost half the price, I decided to go ahead and order the Magnaflow exhaust instead.
It should be here in the next 1-2 weeks and I promise to post a clip when it has been installed. :salute:

Nice! I chose to order mine through my dealership's stock order and save the shipping cost so mine won't be here for another week or so yet......
Let me know how the install goes and definitely how it sounds when you get yours! I wasn't able to hear a proper sound clip so I'm really trusting my prior experience with Magnaflow products on this one......

Andrew -- What was the damage for the system if you don't mind me asking?
I need to compare to the Corsa cost. Is it about half?

Hey Colin,

When I was getting quotes on the 3 systems (Borla, Corsa and Magnaflow) I contacted a company here called Mopac Auto Supply. They were the main distributor for all 3 manufacturers here in Western Canada. The 3 were priced as follows: Magnaflow - $1000, Corsa - $1300 and Borla - $1500

I took these numbers to my parts department at my dealership. They couldn't touch the pricing on the Borla and Corsa because we typically don't order those, but they could offer me $820 on the Magnaflow plus no shipping charge because I just included it on the stock order.
After all the money that I've spent lately, I decided to go with the least expensive one of the 3.
I'm very familiar with the Magnaflow exhausts on vehicles that we mod here at the dealership and I have always been pleased with the sound and their lifetime warranty.
Hopefully I made the right choice but we'll have to see after install :)

Thanks Andrew.. I hear you on spending.....I'm tending to exceed my budget lately too. I'm hoping the spending will slow down somewhat once the excitement of the SHO starts to wear off a little.
(lol, and to do that I'm going to have to get the car first --- yeah that's right -- no car yet. I'm still hoping for either tomorrow or Monday/Tuesday.)

The prices give me some idea of what I'm looking at comparatively -- and I'm looking forward to you guys installing your Maganflow and just how good it is.

Like you, I've had good experience with Magnaflow in the past and I would expect that it's pretty good.
We'll see.
Thanks again.....
C.

Magnaflow can be had for $575. shipped at Bandit Exhaust - mention the SHO forum.

Believe the post on this is earlier in this thread.

Why pay $820. when you can pay $575???????

You have a good point there Bob........ I think I owe you a beer.:)

EDIT: Bob: just went into Bandit and their listing for 2010 Taurus SHO is $1024.63 ... So how do I get that discounted down to $575? You got a connection there to get it at cost or maybe a coupon ?????
I really like that price but I don't see it at Bandit. Maybe you saw it at another place?

Cheers,
Colin

Wow! That's a great price! Just keep in mind that the "free" shipping NEVER applies to Canada. In the U.S. you guys have all sorts of great shipping offers because of your superior mail service (USPS) and the fact that UPS is everywhere. I would expect that 575 would really be about 675-700 after shipping is factored in..... Still a much better deal than me though. I guess though only comfort I have is that my dealership will install for free cause I ordered from them.

I went into Performance Improvements here near where I live and they're listed at $1095. CAD.
There is a sale going on (Performance Improvements) next week which will discount that by about 10%, but we're still talking a G.
A far cry from $575 -- Let me know what you find out Bob.

Andrew, I went into Bandit and couldn't find that price. All I found was the $1024. price. Am I looking in the right place or is Bob's price incorrect?

Here's all I found:

You will probably need to contact them to let them know that you're a member of SHOforum to get Bob's discount.....

Also, on another note, there is a member here who just traded his SHO for a GT500 Mustang. He had a Corsa exhaust which (I believe) he removed before trading that he may be interested in selling? Check the thread out here: http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=116041
