As for me, I read this whole thread yesterday and felt that I was all but a newcomer to it and didn't want to be any kind of a wet blanket on anyone's chances to getting what they really want and have waited a long long time for.

......So to counter anything I said here in a negative fashion, I decided to send another final communique to Mobsteel to at least try to succeed in getting their attention.
If it's any consolation to you bpd, I have serious reservations as to whether they'll answer too, lest my statement borders again on negativity.

To me the writing is on the wall: The business known as Mobsteel does not concentrate on communication if indeed on customer relations at all. I think that's pretty well as plain as the nose on one's face.
Should they finally find the keyboard and actually use it more than once or twice, they might just get my (our) attention again. I hope.

I for one am glad that you consider yourself "point man", bpd and that's fine. I was just going to be one of the happy 'tag-a-longs'.. with perhaps a little money to spend on a new grill ..... and that was fine too.

Yes I'm sure you're not trying to steal anyone's collective thunder since I'm sure your goal is to get Mobsteel's attention as you realize our goal is too.
Understand also, if I might be presumptive as to Zeus's intentions, that we're not trying to steal your thunder either .. just trying to help and do our part as good neighbours (or is that neighbors):p

So lest I be any more punctilious (when in fact I'm trying to be more conscientious and scrupulous than careful or demanding) I'll sign off -- again, hoping that we can get somewhere with this thing called 'Mobsteel' and find happiness after all this waiting.

Cheers,

Okay. I believe that this thread is getting a tad "sensitive" First of all, I appreciate all of Mike's (bpd1151) work with contacting Mobsteel and posting his information here. I do believe that I have said thank you a number of times in different threads for this. I also agree that Mobsteel's lack of communication is atrocious and has me feeling like I do not want to do business with them.
The problem that I'm having is that I REALLY love the look of their grille.... I like it more than the PI grille pictures that I've seen and I'm assuming that the 2012 grille will be very similar, if not the exact same grille as the PI.
I like the Mobsteel grille so much in fact that I decided to give them another chance and I emailed them again as did Showgun (Colin)

Well I received a copied response this morning of an email that they sent to Colin. Thank you Colin for finally getting a response from these guys and I hope you don't mind me posting what was intentionally YOUR response from Mobsteel.

See below the response from Adam at Mobsteel:

"Colin,

Pam started to send out and email last week Friday on the grill details, we instantly had questions so i had her hold off till monday, i guess this was to vague, so here is some advance information for you, relay it to the other SHO / Taurus peeps if you like. I have blind copied the 4 others who have emailed me about the grills.

we only had a few people that have emailed us regarding the grills so depending on the initial responce we determine what we will run extra for stock if any. This email is a chance for some people to have the first sets we are going to run.

We have made several sets and fit them to a new Taurus until we felt the fit and installation was good. The parts we popped for fitting came out really nice. I enclosed a pic of just the upper and lower surround fitted to the new car so you can see the parts (minus the woven mesh insert).

The grills are a copy of the Mobsteel grills so they will be the same as pictured, we will paint the grill surrounds to match your factory Taurus color and the woven mesh insert will be available in stainless or low gloss black powder coat.

Any custom paint request or insert color, badging, etc... can be discussed and quoted.

The grill sets are going to run $700.00 + shipping

If you have any other questions feel free to email:

[email protected] or [email protected]

Thanks, Adam
"

And here are the pictures he attached with the email:

I absolutely LOVE these matching grilles and would probably attach a SHO emblem where the Mobsteel logo is. I can really visualize this grille on my car because my SHO is black.
Despite what I have said in previous posts, I may actually get this grille. Hopefully Mobsteel will be better to deal with now that the product is ready...... :munch:

Andrew/ Zeus- you beat me by about 32 minutes. Just got in and saw that you posted my email from Pam/Adam to a few of us.......very good.

So what 's the verdict? I haven't even had a chance to see the pics yet but will pass judgment later. when I get time to look carefully.
As MJHPadi has said it's a little pricey considering that the OEM is 3 - something but hey if it's a nice unit and makes our rides unique -- I may go for it.

No doubt some have ordered already........or is that a bit premature:)

I'm delighted that we have 'em talking -- sounds like customer service is important to them after all. I'm delighted.

Kudos to bpd1151 for his efforts -- he deserves most of the credit here and indeed has been plugging at this for almost a year now.. Far longer than I have.

Wow that dark is the way to go for me......and would probably go body colour -- Red Candy -- for best effect and looks.
That white on red looks mcikey mouse -- (sorry for the negative, but I jsut don't like it)

I have to say it: That black looks absoluely fu*king awesome; very 'scrumptious'.:dribble::dribble::dribble:

I'm thinking I'll like the Red Candy on Red C just as much.

So Andrew -- Did you order? or are you waiting for more replies to Mobsteel?

Straight up now bro -- you ordered didn't you? I wouldn't be surprised at all.

If I had my car here right now and saw the colour I want, I'd probably do the deed myself -- f-it..:)

If you don't order now I suspect that you might soon and I might soon -- BTW the my car should arrive at the dealership today (21st) and therefor be ready for pickup Wed/Thurs. -- The weather looks ok for Thursday so I've got my fingers crossed for the 24th.:woo-hoo:

I'm sure the dealer has a buyer for my CrossTour so I'm figuring he'd like to see me ASAP....I hope so -- I'm sick of waitin' myslef......I'm so f'n excoted I cun't even spill roight...........:nut:

BTW what's the verdict on the new grill? -- Is the fit and finnish ok and sorted or is it still 'experimental'? I hope it's final and a good fit so as to avoid any back and forth...lol if you get my drift...

Let me know here or pm what you decide. I'm interested please.

Muchos Gracias--- When I hear about my SHO later today I'll post up.....

Cheers
Colin

I think that was just the prepped grill before paint. A lot of aftermarket stuff that I've bought in the past has a protective coating applied to it that is white like this. Wonder if they did injection molded plastic or if that one in the picture is a fiberglass mock-up?

On another note....anyone else noticed that the left and right sides of the lower bumper look different (next to the marker lights)?

I see what you mean on the difference in the grill but having studied it a little it looks like a round photoshop circle of some kind or something that's been stuck on the bumper itself. Hard to see but yeah it's there.
Good spotting, Z.

My bad on the white red.....lol -- good for a laugh anyway ----

I'd love to see the RED/RED with more lighting so we could see.
I still haven't had time to check their website for updates. I would think Andrew has b4 he ordered his grills.......:)

You did all the hard work my friend so thank you for sewing all those seeds for the last year......I'm sure Adam just forgot that you were the one he dealt with a couple times and his remiss would be unintentional...and due to him being real busy.:)

I'd be very interested in what you find out too bpd, and whether you actually go ahead and order.

Andrew and I were glad to help out where we could.

I'm am impressed that y'all not only received a response from them (Mobsteel) but a very detailed one at that.

Pictures to boot! FYI, the top pic of the candy red SHO appears to be merely the unfinished, product.

It's funny to me because I have never dealt with this Pam person, but that's cool that she's replying to your emails (finally) on behalf of all those who have fired 'em off to Mobsteel.

I still never received any correspondence from them and I just checked my email again prior to posting this..... no matter. The information that has been posted here is motivating enough.

I wonder what they're charging for just the upper and lower grilles themselves (completely unpainted). I have my own ideas dancing around in my head for finishing.

But then again, I did also get the ball rolling on another grille option that I have a friend working on.... but that's all very tentative at this point...... and I'm in no rush.

Great job to all of you who have picked up the torch and continued it's journey recently. Proud of each and everyone of you ! :thumb:

I noticed in the email signature that Pam's last name is Genai so there is definitely a relation to Adam....... regardless, her email responses seem to be good.

x2 on this. I do appreciate Mike's hard work on this and my wanting to do certain mods to my car are partially due to all the cool things that he's done to his. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery! :salute:

I have decided to pull the trigger on this grille. To me it looks fantastic and I MUST have it! I have sent another email to Adam and Pam with my intent to purchase and am waiting on a response. I certainly hope that this doesn't turn into a long, hard experience.......

Very cool Andrew.....I'm sure that Adam (or Pam) will be very pleased to take your order.

Another followup from Adam to me a short time ago everyone:

I know this is a silly question to ask now, but has anyone asked for a group buy at a discounted rate??? That would at least secure quite a few orders for them if they can make the price a little more reasonable than $700....or did I miss that part already?!

$75 for the SHO emblem huh? I was planning on ordering the SHO badge from the trunk from Ford and using that (sans ECOboost logo of course) but perhaps this would be a good option? I wonder what size he means by small?

Thx for posting that Colin.....

In another followup email to Adam I asked for more details on that but it was late in the day and he was gone.
If he gets to me tomorrow I'll post the details -- no worries.

I think I'd prefer something more OEM-ish but we'll see.

I also asked about updating the website.....tho I don't want to push my luck ;)

Looks hopeful tho doesn't it.......I'm likin' the idea more all the time which is making the big buck tab a little easier to take.

More laters,
Ciao

One more question about Mobsteel grill (I have to admit the pictures make it look better). On the ACC equipped cars the lower grill is solid in front of the radar (I assume)...anyway, my question: Is the stock grill solid to protect the stuff behind it from weather or just there for show. I'm wondering if the Mobsteel lower would allow rain, mud, snow, ice onto and into parts that are not designed to be exposed to the elements?

Good questions Mark ---- I just got in and will forward your question to Adam and see what he says.......

Speaking of whom: he replied to another of my emails this morning about the "small SHO badge" option that was offered for $75.
Sounds like he's looking for input or can make to suit.
This is what he sent :

I was thinking rough 4"x1" or whatever the size constraints work out to be. with two studs on the back and the customer can place it wherever they want on the grill. I am open to the scale at this time and may even have a couple to choose from.

As for the pic, it has to be a reflection or something, that is a raw photo from the Ford Booth (no photo shop). I looked but can't identify with what they are looking at? your guess us as good as mine

Well, I just got off of the phone with Pam at Mobsteel and my order has been placed. :)
So far I've only been emailing Mobsteel and this was the first time that I called them. I did this because I wanted to make sure of a few details before placing the order.
I went ahead and ordered it painted Tuxedo Black to match my SHO and I chose the powdercoated mesh grille which is what was used on their SEMA car. I also included the $75 SHO emblem which I'm grateful that Colin asked about. :thankyou: I believe that I will attach the emblem in the bottom right hand corner of the grille where the Mobsteel logo on the SEMA car was....

After speaking with Pam and Adam, I believe that my confidence has been restored in Mobsteel. They both seemed very nice and helpful. It's going to take a few weeks before the grille ships, however I have given them a 50% deposit on the price to get the process started.

I will (of course) report any and all progress until I receive the grille and install it.

Thanks to my fellow canuck, Showgun for all of his follow-up and of course to the man who started it all, Bpd1151 for convincing Mobsteel to produce this grille.

I can't wait to get it! :omgsho:

Glad to hear you ordered up there Andrew........Good man. So the charge was $700 + $75 + Shipping of about ??? $50 USD????

Just wondering bottom line.

I'd love to do this myself and will probably go ahead even without you getting yours first (by the sounds of it)

I'm still waiting for confirmation that my car arrived at Kennedy Ford in Oakville......I think once things settle somewhat, I'll order up too.
Really like the looks of that grill.
Only caveat I have with the mod is with the bottom grill: as with MJ's question about ACC --- I have it -- do you Andrew ?-- if so, what's the scoop?

Glad to help BTW as is everyone who has pitched in......no worries.:)
