As the title states...I got one hanging out in the garage and would like to install it before the FLSHOC meet down in Gainsville.

jose has put a bunch of how to's up it doesnt look like more than a couple of hours tops. i think the worst part would be cutting the floor but ive already cut mine up

For me,the first time doing it about 2 hours.
I'd also recommend replacing the rod shifter stabilizer bushing at the same time.

Don't take my advice.
The floor pan is cake to cut, its the shifter brackets that suck. An angle grinder with cut off wheel will be the best thing if you don't have air tools. A dremel is not the tool for the job, as I found out. The template in those instructions didn't help me much, it either didnt print full size, or just isn't large enough.

Don't take my advice.
That's just for the SHOrty shifter. That shouldn't be too hard to do either.

The actual short shifter requires no welding.

Do you have the SHOrt shfiter, or the shorty? I've installed a couple different SHOrt shifters and they took around two hours. Depending on the condition of your ypipe-catback bolts...could take longer.

I have the SHOrt Shifter not the SHOrty. In the instructions, it stated that some people had to remove the Y-pipe and other people didn't...For those who have installed it, who had to remove it and who hasn't.
I don't want to have to remove it in order to get this installed.

I've never had to remove my y-pipe, but I did have to remove my catback from my y-pipe in order to get the rod shifter out. I am running SHOshop catted ypipe to a 2.5" catback.
Install is simple and took me about an hour with the proper tools, like most will say the hardest part is cutting the shifter bracket (very thick) and the template is a bit off but easily fixed, after that its a piece of cake and I did not have to remove my exhaust either and I have a custom 2.5''. Great mod you will love it!
I wrote the instructions for the SHOrt Shifter installation over 10 years ago, so there maybe some details that I may have overlooked.
The template I include with the shifter, I traced directly from the one in my car. The shifter body will not drop through the opening, you have to tilt the aluminun body and wiggle it in place.
You need to install the metric screws in the body before you drop it in.
Overall it is a very straight forward installation.
I started designing the SHOrt Shifter before I finished assembling my SHO. I beleive that I was the first person to do the ATX/MTX swap. It took me over a year and a half to complete it, since I rebuilt everthing as I was putting it back together.
However, there was another forum member that beat me to the finish. I beleive it took him about a month, since he just did a straight swap without rebuilding anything.
I documented, photographed and posted all the steps at the time. I do not know if all that info was lost during the Forum crash, but I still have all the photographs.
Right now my SHO is not running, clutch problems again.
