Hi, My name is Zack

i've been looking at a 91 SHO+ with 182k miles on it. im trying to figure out what a good price is to offer the man who has it. it has many small/various problems. The biggest ones are that the car will run for 30 mins then it will have to cool down, then it can run for another 30 mins..etc. it has not had a 60k tune up yet. i dont know when the last one was. but i have a list of the various things. it needs DIS module wires(mouse), a CV, 60k tune up, the tach doesnt work, there is a moisture problem in the cabin, the windshield is cracked, the airbag light is on along with the check engine light, the power seats dont fully work, the dash is screwed(has carpet) and i dont know the extent of the rodent problem fully. The interior is new(out of 95 SHO), the headliner is new but i think the wrong color(interior tan but headliner and carpet are black), The paints about a 6.5 to 7 out of 10, the clutch is good but it has hard to put into 1st and 3rd(have to really force it). I like the SHO's. this one is white it has the power bulge hood and paint mirrors but no rear spoiler. it has tan interior with the black headliner and carpet like i said. i would like a rough estimate on how much it would cost to fix these problems and about how much the car is worth as it sits. its been sitting for 2 year but runs well i guess.

Umm..... $200. Your going to have quite a bit of time invested to work out all the bugs with this car.

And you are right. This car seems to have many mechanical and interior problems. You can by a relatively good running SHO for $1800. With all these problems I would not offer more than $500.

The rodent problem would concern me the most out of all the things you listed. Lots of potential unknown wiring issues.

How much it would cost to repair depends a lot on how much work you plan on doing yourself.

The 60k and repairing the wiring on the DIS should take care of most of your issues with how the car runs. If you're doing it yourself, figure 500-ish or so. If you have someone do it for you, plan on closer to 1500 for the full upper and front 60k.

The interior moisture issues could be from a lot of things. Leaky door seals, leaky moonroof/clogged moonroof drain tubes, leaky trunk seal. They're all pretty easily repaired, but the big deal here is fixing the damage those leaks have done. Mold can be a ***** to get rid of.

Swapping a dash out is about an 8 hour ordeal. May as well do the heater core and blend door actuator while you're in there. Good clean dashes can be found, price is determined by the seller, and how much you're willing to pay for it. Heater core and blend door actuator should be under $100 (at least the last time I checked they were).

Now, I know I wouldn't offer much for it, because I'm a cheap *****. Maybe $300, depending on the condition of the rest of the car. In the end though, it all depends on what the seller expects to get for the car, and how much he's willing to bargain.

There's a lot of these on the market now, much more than is advertised. It takes some digging to find them, and often times buying them further away from you than you'd be willing to travel.

I hope this helps somewhat, but feel free to ask away! There's a lot of knowledge on these forums.

Oh, and pay no attention to zach up there. He's our token ******.

1800 is way too high. The fact that it's a Plus doesn't add anything to its value. With that high of a starting price, I think you may need to find another.

****, if that's what they're going for, I'll sell you my clean, rust free 92 with a 3.2 swap for $8k.

aww, thats so sweet.

BTW OP, i would keep looking, SHO's are cheap and when they have that many problems you just need to pass, dont rush into buying one. if you are truly interested in the sho then wait for the "one". you will know the "one" when you see it.

the car is rust free. its 2 owner. originally from west texas. now in southwest florida. the paint might be better then i think. probably more or less an 8. the truck seals well but the door jam seal looks eaten out. it runs very well, it broke the tires lose at 30 mph(newer bfgoodrich).

im not in a rush to buy one. i was mowing my girlfriends grass at her parents second house and i noticed the car sitting under a large tree. i finished and walked over and talked to the lady that was there. she put me on the phone with her husband and got me the keys. i opened the door and discovered the rodent problem. i started it up and let it idle for 5 mins looked at it and what not. i pushed the clutch in and put it in reverse. nothing happened. it just started smoking when i let the clutch out. i let out of the gas and it went back to idle then slowly dropped. i turned it off. let it sit about 2 mins till the smoke cleared. got in revved it up dropped the clutch and it started moving. i didnt drive it far bc of the tires being flat. came back scheduled a time to talk to the husband and let. i went back today with my friend(mopar type of guy) and we went over it more thoroughly. tested it out. ran it hard a little. and then went back and started asking questions. found everything out i needed to know and left. id been researching the cars for a while and talking to multiple people about them. im very mechanically inclined and is my friend and his neighbors, so i have a very good support time in the wings. I also know a SHO guy at the ford dealer and another one who has 3, 1 of which is in mits of being turned into a rwd SHO. itd be a project, not a daily driver. I have a 2009 focus and my mother has a 2011 SHO that is white, i thought itd be cool to get another white one thats 20 years old.

Sounds like a lot of things wrong for being your first SHO.
Look on this forum for a price reference in the cars for sale part.
Lets face it, it runs poorly (minutes at a time), clutch feels wonky, needs the maintenance things done, probably needs a heater core, needs a windshield, probably needs a cam sensor, and you have wiring issues.
If it is given to you, you will have 2 to 3K in it, to straighten the issues out.

like i said. i have a pretty good support team. 2 of which own multiple SHOs and race them and what not. Im not looking to make the car a 100 point car. Just something fun to drive and embarrass people in, especially my mopar friend(car: 85 GLH, 85 Shelby Charger, 87 conquest, 96 indy pace truck, 98 SS/T, and about 7 more...). We are just not real sure what is the right price is. i think im going to bring it to the SHO guy at the ford dealer ship(family friend) and have him look at it. the clutch feels great. the shifts just need some getting use to i guess.

that what im trying to figure out. These SHO's are like conquest tsi. and fairly competitioned to tell you the truth. I drove mopar boys conquest. and it pulled about the same. and the aftermarket seems about the same also, the group buys and everything else are hand in hand better the conquest and sho's lol. its so weird, we are both interested in unique japanese american vehicles haha.
