Hi all,
New to the forum. I just bought a 97 SHO.

I picked the car up and took it straight to my friend Jesse to have him weld the cams. Didn't know if they were done already since it has 90k miles on it. I took the valve cover off and they hadn't been done...here's the first photo, waiting for the second photo. BTW he TIG welded them. :)

Thanks for the welcome. Yeah I read about it before I bought the car so I knew what I was getting into. Jesse said that if anyone in the Tampa, FL area wants theirs welded as well to let him know he will do it on the cheap. Nothing extensive though just cam welding :D

Thanks! Just need to figure out the acceleration issue I have and we're set. Seems to be huffing for air or fuel above 3k RPM. Have to replace a downstream oxygen sensor first. Then a fuel filter.

Weird thing on the oxygen sensor. When I bought the car it had a huge exhaust leak. The sensor and bung were just hanging there broke right off the top of the Y-Pipe. Had to take it all down and weld the bung back in lol. Anyone ever see that?

A few possibilites:
IMRC broken / butterflies gummed up & sticking? (would choke off air above 3k)
Low fuel pressure? (if your new fuel filter doesn't help check the pressure at the schrader valve)
Clogged cat(s)?
Gerbil got stuck in the saxacone? (part of the intake in the fender well behind the splash shield) :p

Once I get her to my house (sitting about 70 miles away atm) I'll check a few things out. I'm an automotive electrical mechanic by trade so I know my way around a car :D

Thanks for the tips, I'll hand open the secondaries and see if they move right or not. Then check the IMRC motors themselves, I can open them with my scan tool.

The cats all looked ok when we had the exhaust down. It might just be in failsafe since I have a downstream oxygen sensor unplugged too. It was a melted ball so I didn't want it shorting the ECU.

After I get that sorted out I'm going to put a chip on it. I do Moates chips. Have one in every Ford I own  . Ford ******, Ford Focus, and now this one :D

Worked on the car for a while. Had to replace 2 coils. Need to replace the front motor mount the engine flops around when shifting. Did brakes all the way around, rears were metal to metal. Fixed a small A/C leak as well.

All in all not too bad. Biggest thing the car needs now is paint the engine runs like new.
