Just what the title says, I'm curious if this has been done and if so how did you get the PCM tuned. I know someone did it on there Gen 3 but I couldn't find anything on a gen 2.

I did it when I had my turbo 94 ATX. I never did quite get the converter to lock properly after the gear change but there may be a solution now. It really woke the car up.

where did you get parts for the gear change?

i assume we are talking autos only...

was it as easy as just changing the ring gear?

Alex, I dont know if Scott told you. We are going to try this on his broken trans, and try to repair it. If so, we will post a how-to. As far as tuning goes, I really think Binary Editor will be the fix. Im an mtx guy, but I wouldnt mind a 3.98, camm'd, atx, DD.

Edit: The reason why I say this about BE, is that it is said to have 'full' TC lockup control.

Either that, or a manual lockup button (which would work, but be a pain in the ass), or Megasquirt. You can load alternative software on a Megasquirt to control an auto tranny instead of a motor, and run it for just the tranny.

3.98's are Fun! lol

3.98's coupled with tri-flows and a bunch of other bolt-ons, really give it the power it needs. 14's this summer should not be a problem. Soon as the turbo goes on, it will be pushing 6-8 psi on a big turbo! Get 3.98's, there is a noticeable improvement.

Done it many times. It adds $400 to the price tag of our transmissions.

Tuning is a snap too.

Give us a call and we'll tell you all about it.

So you can tune my PCM to work with 3.98 gears?

Yup. Not a problem. H3Z, H3Z2 or D4U1.

We can do the V-8 cars and even the 3.5L TT SHO.

Pretty much, anything with a blue oval on the grill.

Uhmmm...never. Still in Sunny Atlanta Georgia.

I love the south. Much more conservative than the Republic of Kaleefornya.

One county doth not a state make.

Besides, CA's got enough car shit. The rest of the country likes cars, too.

But it doesn't have a guy like Doug. Sure someone can be all GUNGHO-F-YEAHFOOOORDFTWIPUKEONBOWTIE!!! But they don't know anything about the SHO, or how to tune one.
