car stutters like it doesnt get gas when i get on the gas pedal.

If i try to pass somebody or anything that puts the pedal close to the floor my car will stutter like it doesnt get enough gas. It works fine on the highway and even most of the time when im driving normally in the city and on highway.

It sounds like there may be an air flow issue. Have you checked your air filter lately. If it gets clogged up, you will get more hesitation as you floor the accelerator. Another possibility would be a fuel filter issue, constraining the fuel flow, giving you a lean-burn situation. These are just two, of many, potential problem areas, but they are easy to check.

Hesitation is the word your looking for.

That sounds like the MAF to me, I had the same issues, bought some MAF cleaner and liberally sprayed the connector and sensors and viola, got my engine back.

yeah same thing was happening on my 89. cleaned MAF and put in a new air filter, bingo fixed. car pulls with zero hesitation or "chugging". "chugging" is a good descripiton of what was happening.
