Alright, i did a little searching.. But couldn't find exactly what im looking for..

My 94 hasn't had functioning air conditioning since i bought it.. I want to fix it.. For ***** and giggles i filled it up last summer and it seemed to be leaking right where you fill it up on the low pressure side.. Is there just an o ring in there or am i going to have to replace that whole line?

If i have to replace that whole line, what do i have to do to get that same line from my 92 parts car to accept the r-134A?

they make a can of r134a that has the uv reactive dye in it. You can fill it up a little with that and then shine the light on there to see where the leak is coming from. If you have to replace the whole line - you can then buy adapter fittings from you local parts store. They are only like 5 dollars and they thread right on top of the old fitting.

When did they switch to the 134 vs 12? If the switch happened in '92 then I don't see why you couldn't swap out the compressor. Not sure what process is for converting an entire r12 to 134. I'm sure it used to be archived here but may not have survived one of the big crashes.

You can remove the schrader valve and replace it with a new one.

FWIW, I had a non-functioning A/C system in my '92 when I bought it (along with a lot of other things) took the car to a local Lincoln-Mercury dealer to repair the A/C and "convert" the car to R134.

They replaced the orifices (schrader type valves) with the larger ones used for R134, took out a shim in the compressor clutch, charged the system with R134 and that was all. 4,500 miles and it still works like a charm.

You do not need to "convert" or swap the compressor.

Clay, you can't replace the schrader valve, at least not on the 94 AC hoses, because they don't use schrader valves. They use crappy rubber check balls, and that's why they leak. However, the 92 AC lines should have a schrader valve, so just swapping the lines should fix the issue.
