So I'm having the worst time trying to find an idler pulley, smooth not ribbed, for my 96 3.4. No one seems to carry it any more or even have a clue where to get one. I'm not looking to spend a lot of money. Does any one have a solution or live in IL (Chicagoland area) that can lend a hand for a quick fix?

If the v8 pulleys use the same bearing as the v6s shonut sells them. IIRC they are the same.

I'm in Lombard. I could probably help you out.

PM me or Email at [email protected]
Eric, I sent you an email.

Ishodu, you say they use the same bearings. So would I have to get the old one off and pack it with new bearings or can I just get an entire new idler pulley from Ford?

SHOZ123, how do you like your Genesis Coupe 2.0L?

To change the bearing you would take off the old pulley and press in a new bearing. I don't think you can get new pulleys anymore.

The bearings in them are the same. You can use the rounded Gen 3 pulley on the V6s too.

So you are saying pop out the bearings from the V6 one that is too small and press them into the pulley off my V8? And what do you mean I can use the gen 3 pulley on a V6?

As an update to all this, stay far away from BVAP.com. They have terrible customer service. I had to contact my credit card company to get my money back. I just went ahead and got the $70+ pulley from Ford. The V6 one was not the same size either. Thats all.
