Alright, my rear driver side brakes keep burning up!

I changed out the caliper, the caliper bracket, the pads(upgraded ones), the rotor, disconnected the E-brake, new guide pins with plenty of brake grease(bought a giant container), and changed the passenger side. All with new parts! This is the second driver side caliper I changed with a brand new one from Autozone(under warranty). And bled the crap out of both sides.

What else could it be???

(I changed everything that I was told to change from the forum search, so now I am at my wit's end)

Sucks that you replaced everything except the component that was causing the problem in the first place. Rear Brake hoses are a well known culprit. Me thinks this could have been avoided with the application of slight greater pressure on the "search" button. :laugh_ti:

yeah, I kinda don't think you searched really well, as the rubber hoses are the culprit nearly 100% of the time. And we'll tell you that!

Hoses for sure, its the metal strap that mounts the hose to the car. It blisters up and chokes off the fluid (from returning that is).

A hose IS a hose...until it becomes a one way valve. then it magically transforms into 2 hoses...and a valve.

yeah, as the steel bracket rusts, the rust migrates through the hose, causing it to swell. The swelling pinches the hose so that no fluid goes through. However, when you step on the brake pedal, you are applying several hundred PSI on the brake fluid, which basically forces the fluid through and clamps the caliper.

When you release the pedal though, there is not an equivalent force shoving the fluid back through the hose, and the end result is that the fluid remains under pressure at the caliper, keeping it engaged with the rotor.

This is why they start smoking; it is like dragging the brakes for several hundred miles.

Gee, I am glad this forum is here. I was having the same issue, except I didn't just run out and buy everything new. Good to know it is a hose, not to hard at all :)

It might not hurt to hog out the inside of that bracket with a dremel and a sanding drum (rust expands steel, you see, so the bracket will be a tighter fit), and perhaps even coat the inside with grease to prevent future rusting.

Or, get stainless steel brake lines... :naughty:
