It has been awhile since I was last here. With all the flurry and buz around the 2010 model. How is the aftermarket gearing up for this? Any company have a test mule for developement? How well is Ford playing with the aftermarket companies?

Browse the 2010 forum some more.

So far, we've seen the prototype of the first 2010 catback come out of NESHO, and Beefcake's tuned 2010 run a 12.75 in the 1320', with a few other musings in the works, I'm sure. :)

I've been browsing and a catback and tune is a start. I was just wondering if any company had moved beyond the basics. I'm really interested in seeing what this motor is capable of doing. How much boost can be acheived before reliability becomes a factor. What kind of power can be had after rebuilding the engine to higher specs. I'm sure I am early.

Since the tune has been started, how has that been? Did Ford make it more difficult to do ?

That's what I was afraid of. If you want the money to come to you, you have to offer a reason. I'd love to see where the 4th Gen SHO can take us. I would love to see alot of the players from previous generations work together and form a solid aftermarket that draws people in.

I would love to see this opportunity for Ford to bring in new faces and for the hod rodders to jump on and utilize this platforum.

The suppliers of products want a lot of money to start up making products unless you have a proven market for the products. I went to many vendors of products for the fox body mustang and you would not get the time of day from them for the SHO product development in the mid to late 90's. Another problem is that many are willing to commit verbally, but when the $$$ has to meet the road all you get are crickets sounding off in the forums.

Gotta consider these have not been out for a year or two already. Most people JUST got their cars. Give it time.

I hear you and I admit I am probably early and jumping the gun. I would hate to see this opportunity squandered away because support was not given.

I would love to see the 4th Gen SHO recapture the glory of being the standard for 4 door performance automobiles. Granted there is more competition these days. However, I think Ford put up a car that has the chance to do it. Let's take on the G35s, BMW 3 series, and (dare I say it) the other 4 door sedans of America.

We need to get those hot rodders with deep pockets in this game. They are out there and they spend the coin to get what they want. I just hope we get some of those back into this arena.

Ones with deep pockets may choose to spend another 15K for a different and faster car. There is more competition for the SHO today than back in 1989 when the only two sedans that was quicker than the SHO was BMW M5 and 750i. No domestic sedan was anywhere close and Infiniti, Lexus and Acura was just starting and was no competition to the SHO in performance. The GEN1 SHO was fastest car Ford made and held Ford's proving ground track record when Jackie Stewart drove it.

Bob - your preaching to the choir. I am well versed on the SHO's history. I just haven't been on the forum much since 2004 when I sold my 95 MTX.

Granted there are a lot of great options in the $37K-$43K price range. Very stiff competiton from both GM and Chrysler with their RWD platforums and thats before we get into all the imports. Again, I am hoping that enough Ford die hard fans and fresh blood keep the SHO going into a Gen V and the aftermarket grows with response of it.

Just as with the new Skyline. I am awaiting to see where the aftermarket goes with them. Both the SHO and Skyline have big shoes to fill based on previous offerings. Changing up the mix can either make it a bigger seller (Example: the Eclispe sells better as a V6 than it did as a turbo 4 awd) or turn it into a flop (Gen III Taurus ).

I'll say it again, I wonder if GT500 take off brakes will work. Same bolt pattern...just not sure the offset.

yep, I am curious about this as well. This would be a nice brake upgrade fo SHO....LOL

I really don't see much of an aftermarket in the near future. When you consider research, start up costs, production costs vs the size of the market, it's probably cost prohibitive. Down the road though, once the GTDI class of engines takes a firm hold, I can see a strong aftermarket there. We're at the dawning of a new era here. Ford has a 2.0 GTDI engine in the works. You also have to take into account that the auto makers are currently hanging on by the skin of the teeth. R&D is on the back burner. All we can do is sit back and see.

At this point, I question the "need" for bigger brakes. Not needed on the street, unless someone wants them for looks.

We'll find out more next season when Kirk (or someone else) gets an '10 on a track, preferably with good pads and fluid.

Well I proved that we need them today.. I ****** through them pretty quickly in doing a bunch of test runs. I had them seriously smoking today.

Luckly Pads are in the works as we speak and Im going to start on SS Brake lines asap.

And Ron when I say ****** though I mean BAD BAD.

Stock pads aren't worth the *** to **** in. First time I took my R to the Glen, I had 1100 miles on it. The stock pads were totally gone after about 60 miles on the track.

Let me see if I can persuade my boss to let me "borrow" his 2009 GT500 and test them on my new SHO. Then we'll know for sure!:naughty:

Are the calipers/pads the same as anything else in the Ford line, or are they new?
