per the info from a brake supplier I've bought other racing gear from:
Here's a breakdown of what the Nextel Cup teams ran at Infineon in June:
AP Racing 30
Alcon 0
Brembo 11
PFC 3
Raybestos 3
Wilwood 0
StopTech 0
Kasey Kahne and Tony Stewart used AP Racing's large "DTM" caliper. They finished first and second. Marcos Ambrose and Jimmy Johnson used them as well so that they were on the first through fourth finishers.
This past weekend at Watkins Glen, 31 out of 43 cars ran the fairly newish "DTM" spec AP Racing caliper (including Tony Stewart and Marcos Ambrose in 1st and 2nd).
And 22 teams ran the Wilwood "A" pad at the glen, I used to run that pad on my 89 in the early 2000's and it is still the best I have ever used! It's amazing to me, that as fast as technology moves, that compound is still being used at the highest levels of motorsport.
Tx; Good info there; I also had Wilwoods on my 240z track car and really liked them, as they never faded; 2 of the teams at Road America I talked with last year told me they switched over from Wilwoods and Alcons, and were much happier with Stoptech. Many others outside of the good ole boys have had good success with them. Found this on their site, but am sure other suppliers can reference successes similarly too. http://www.stoptech.com/satisfied_customers/race_team.shtml
