Hey guys,

First off, anyone here knows that I am a SHO guy to the death, I love my car and I think the 1st and 2nd gen SHOs were one of the best cars ever made. I aslo work at a Ford dealership and have had the pleasure to work on some other SHOs and along with that, I have seen all of the advertisments and information on the new SHO. That being said... who isn't all that impressed with the new SHO? IMO its like they took a badass luxury car and decided to put a SHO badge on it. A luxury car yes, but what the 1st and 2nd gen sho was? no. Atleast in my opinion. Some people might argue that the 89-95 SHO was a luxury/sport car, but i'm just not on board with their new SHO. It looks like a freakin subaru and weighs a lot. I think the new taurus would have been good to be on the Fusion platform. They put a lot of really awesome things in this car powertrain wise, but I'm just not buyin all the weight and size.

If they ever build a SHO Fusion, you bet i'll be on board, but as long as Ford rolled out the new Cadillac SHO, they can keep it.

Thats just my 2cents, you can bet I will drive one as soon as it comes to the dealership, but for now thats my opinion.

I've said it probably 15 times already.

However, Opinions on how the the car Drives, Handles, Stops, Shifts, Rides, Accelerates and so on are useless coming from people who have never driven one. I'm saying that now before all the Yamaha nut swingers come in here and talk about how it's not really a SHO and how it's not as good as a car as the now 15+ Year old Gen 1/2 rattlebox, FWD, MX Intensive, Having a CD player is a "Option" Taurus's.

I like it - no, LOVE it, and if I had 40K+ (cos you know there's no way I'm not loading it up) I'd buy one in a heartbeat. But I don't. I just can't come up with that kind of scratch on an E-5 paycheck. Not a knock against the car; a knock against the economy and my crappy paycheck.

I am, however, seriously looking at a Fusion Sport. 8/10ths the car for 6/10ths the price. And, it's almost the same size as my 95 ATX. $28K+ I can manage.

Yes I agree there are a few things we dont like about the new SHO and there are a few things we would all like to change about it. but that being said they did what we all wanted they brought back the SHO. None of us were on the decision board on this car and none of were able to throw out opinions in on the building or design of the new SHO. So in the long run either you like it or you dont! Im tired of seeing the numerous threads on how much ppl dont like the new SHO, WHO CARES! I understand everybody has their own opinion but we are the SHO community we need to support the car we all love/hate so much, weather its a gen1, gen2, gen3, or gen4. If you dont like it dont buy it simple as that! I like it......IMO lol

I agree. I like the styling and it is fast, but it doesn't feel fast. It isolates you so much from the road and everything else in the car that it is just a bore to drive for me. I like how in the Mustang GT they run a tube from the intake into the dash, so you can hear the engine more. This is an example of what the SHO should have, but Ford doesn't see it that way.

In fact when I got to sit in the new SHO for the first time in the showroom back in April or so, I told a Ford rep that I hoped there will be a manual version coming out in the future and he told me "Why would you want that? That's what a Mustang's for [pointing over at the Mustang on display], this isn't a 4-door Mustang" and I told him, "well it's supposed to be" and he gave me a look as if I was an alien. Here-in lies the problem, Ford thinks all enthusiasts only want Mustangs.

the new SHO is better in every way compared to my SHO, and I don't know of a Ford sedan that is as nice or as fast as the new SHO (save the MKS EcoBoost). That's all that matters to me, the only other car I'd consider buying would be an S80 V8, and personally I like the SHO's interior more.

I agree that the new SHO will smoke almost every other SHO on the planet performance wise, but it is not exciting to drive, at least for me, and I'd rather drive a 120hp fiesta that loves corners and is fun to drive over the new SHO. That's also why I think I would actually buy a Pontiac G8 GT over a new SHO (I know, **** me now, right?). The G8 is just more exciting and is more muscle car like. I get much more of a rush when driving it and actually prefer it's styling marginally better than the new SHO. It is also much cheaper and will have much higher residual value later on now that it's discontinued.

BUT I will still help support the new SHO in our community as it reminds people of the original SHO and gets people excitied about Fords again (something that has been missing for awhile), which in turn helps the entire community.

+1, have you driven that thing! I put a little punishment into one of the new fiestas that they had at carlisle, was actually pretty fun. Yeah its not that fast, but the fun factor was definately up there for me. I say throw the little eco in it. :thumb:

As far as the new SHO goes, I really don't think the size of the car is that far off comparable to the market. Unfortunately the car market has changed dramatically since 1986/1989. I believe that the car is very unique comparable to other Fords and cars on the market. And unfortunately, in order to maintain the SHOs (silent) reputation of being mom/pop's daily sport-car killer, it means taking the driver out of the equation and letting the technology kick-in to compete.
IMO opinion its hard to get the combo of what a SHO should be just right, but based on the market today, I think they got pretty darn close. I will let you know for sure after I drive one.

Am I impressed?
You bet!

It seems like a fine car with plenty of power and features. The whole ecoBoost movement is great. It satisfies two previously "Mutually Exclusive" segments (those that want plenty of power and those that don't want a gas guzzler). It should perform well amongst it's competition...which is NOT a gen1 or gen2 Taurus.

The Taurus platform is no longer considered a "midsize" vehicle. It's a full size. This makes it's competition different than it used to be.

I think it's competition is the Buick Lucerne, Chevy Impala, Chrysler 300, BMW 528i Xdrive. All of these are full size family sedans. And since were talking about the SHO, we need to include the G8 GXP...but that thing only gets 15MPG and has a 6.2L V8 engine...not quite the same market segment. The G8 is probably more well suited to compete with a Mustang...Which it beats hands down..IMO.

Does the car push MY buttons? A couple of them, but not all of them.

In closing:
Am I impressed with it? Yes
Will I run out and buy one? No.

I'd also like to point out to the OP a few things.

1) You should be happy, with the state that Ford is in, that the brand of "SHO" is even revived from the dead.

2) I don't know of any other company that has taken as much time as Ford to get to know the enthuasists, and held a meeting of a hand full of them to see what THEY want in a car, AND let them drive the PRE-PRODUCTION cars, and even bring three reps to the SHO Convention along with a track-pack SHO.

That really has impressed me. I also was excited the entire time I was in the passenger seat...I wasn't even driving!

notes to ford.

1) put the car on a diet
2) bigger brakes up front
3) more aggressive tune (esp in the trans area)
4) put the car on a diet
5) launch control
6) put the car on a diet.

I'm on the list to drive the first SHO's they get here in Jacksonville, and I don't think it would be fair to judge it til I scare the poor salesman into another career, but consider this.

This car's reviews have been very positive, and it has recieved alot of national media attention, bringing a renewed interest to the SHO. As a result there will be more people at the conventions, more people on this site, more people looking at our cars, and possibly increasing the value of our cars.

I'll be the first to say I would really like to see a 6 speed manual available, but I realize the majority of the population prefers a slushbox, so it is what it is. I'm getting more comments in the month I've owned my 1995 SHO than I did in the entire 2 years I had my 1993!

Be happy with all the renewed attention coming our way.

I have a feeling most of those will be answered... because:

They KNOW the brakes are too small...I'm willing to bet the 2011 will have bigger brakes. Tune? why need Ford? There's going to be PLENTY of aftermarket.

I'm curious to see if in a few years they make a Plus edition with "weight savings"

Also, with the crown vic out of the way, I definitely see an Interceptor package working for Ford

because more than likely any alteration to the stock programming will void the warranty.
and believe me they will know.

Well...there's that. haha
I'd love to see a stripped down ecoboost Taurus cop car with NO FLUFFY trim.

I would LOVE a vinlyn back seat with a cage, spot light and 19" steelies with sweet dog dishes!!!:dribble:

1. Buy One
2. Drive It.
3. If you still want it lighter, tear out the stuff you do not like.
