So we are stuck with a black engine cover. We also know that the basic intake, wires and hoses cant be changed.

The reality is that ford has to meet internal noise and heat standards for the compartment. This was straight from the horses mouth.

Most cars today have a cover, have you see one that you especially liked design wise?

What else could be done to make the compartment look nice ?

If the cover has to be there, at least make it really easy to take off. I've heard of Mercedes' that have covers with fasteners that only the dealer can get off! :shakehead: That just ain't right.

A few screws, and that cover should come right off. Catch my drift, Ford? :naughty:

paint it body color and make the (SHO EcoBoost) emblem the same as the one on the trunk. so painted engine cover, with an actual Sho EcoBoost badge on it instead of the black plastic embossed logo.
anyone got photoshop skills for this?

You may be on to something, what about the shape of the cover ? Stay the same or change the look ?

make it conform to the shape of the intake, then just flat over the valve covers. that or polished aluminum or custom artwork by local detroit graffiti artists...

Couldn't they attach the cover to the hood. Then it would lift off of the engine when the hood is raised. With this done, the engine could return to be the "Jewel in the Box" (as Chip Foose likes to say).

Back in Michigan ... again.
I'm flabbergasted as to why so many folks just want the engine cover gone. This ain't no 12-runner, dual-stage intake people, it's UGLY under there. Cars have been running engine covers for 15 years now, step into the 21st century.

That said, the cover could be made a bit better. I don't see why the existing cover couldn't just have some "snakes" molded into the top of it, take care of the freakin' football field that's there now.

Funny thing is Chris they actually made just that... a cover with snakes!

Every one though that it looked even worse though.

Yep, I couldn't care less either, but I do feel fake snakes or fake anything is ****.
To me, form follows function, its 15 years since the last new V6 anyway.
We're just NOT gonna get that WTF look with hood open anymore.
