(continued from my previous thread about bad idle)

i got the coil and the new plugs put in today all went smoothly. All the rough idle and misfire seem to be gone but something else is still there. When I had the bad coil there was also a lot of noise which I attributed to the bad coil but it looks like it is something different. The noise can only really be heard in the cabin as I have no way to test otherwise. The noise is a very loud roaring sound coming from under the hood that seems to be linked to some sort of vibration either in the engine or......some other part idk. When i got the engine checked out the only thing they found was the bad coil and a problem with my cat. The noise also has a faint chugging rythm to it in the background. The noise only seems to show up once I get up past 30 and is at its worst around 50-55 mph. The noise slowly gets louder as speed increases until around 70 when it dies down. The vibration that comes with it is a very rapid one which i think is causing the whole roar. To give you a hint to how fast the vibration is I get an almost humming sound from my cabin air vents and moonroof because they are vibrating so fast. Anyone have any idea or heard of anything like this before? Idk if I can afford to keep my car in good working order anymore. If this noise is still a mystery by the 23rd i'll stop by your meeting Ian and maybe you guys will have some better luck. The noise/vibration doesn't seem to hurt performance at all but it makes the car annoying to say the least.

thank you again to everyone for helping me

I had that happen this spring. You can ignore that a while until it starts clicking when you turn.

Then I suggest you get a replacement half shaft from Napa. I paid about $90 for a replacement. The labour was about 2 hours at the dealer. I originally replaced it with a Cardone unit from Advance Auto Parts but it wasn't the right size. I made it fit but I didn't feel comfortable with it. I believe Rock Auto has good prices on Motorcraft rebuilds.

I've never had a problem getting them to install my parts. You don't have to take it to a dealer though. Any shop should be able to take care of it.
