Yet another vibration thread

Yeah...no tire should be "flat spotting" simply sitting over night. I think my issue is a big deal because it's so bad some mornings that over time it will most certainly cause suspension issues or prematurely wear wheel bearings, etc. I've never had a set of tires in my nearly 30 years of driving "flat spot" sitting in my driveway for 12+ hours so I can't subscribe to it being normal for low profile tires.

But I thank you for the alternate perspective and possible cause to my issue. Hope you're able to get to the root of your issues soon.

Btw, I've been driving for almost 30 years, also. I've never had it happen either. Doesn't mean it isn't happening now, especially considering the confluence of events necessary for it to happen.

I've got the same vibration as OP, already replaced wheels. I'll be having Ford do a diagnosis on it when I take it in for an oil change this week.

Mine seems to happen around 60-70mph.

So the dealership agreed to put the rims/tires from another car onto mine and went with me to drive it.

The vibration did not change, so it isn't rims/tires. They have opened a case with FoMoCo engineering. Now I wait.

Side note: they used the black painted steel rims and tires from a cop car. It made my SHO look mean, and it rode really nice because they're smaller rims with fatter tires.

Well things just got interesting. I sent a frustrated email to the service manager a couple days ago and he had me bring it in again today. Long story short...

He drive it to feel the vibration. Then took the rear drive shaft off and drove it. Said the vibration changed, couldn't feel it nearly as much. So he submitted that info to the engineer at Ford that he's dealing with.

They put it back together, and I picked the car up.

I get off work, get on the freeway to come home...and I don't feel it. Maybe a tiny vibration but nothing like before. If it was a 8 out of 10 before it's a 1 now.

So my question is...wtf?!

Driveshaft was dirty and they cleaned it (long shot), or the attaching flanges of the shaft were not tight, or at least not seated properly?

My car has this same problem, shakes pretty badly around 65-75mph. Steering wheel visibly shakes, and you can feel it through the seat and the whole car. :scratch:
I had an alignment done, and balanced the wheels, still the same.

Definitely have the driveshaft checked out, marius.
I definitely will once I take it in. I had an apt today at the local Lincoln dealership, they were very unpleasant, so I am just not in the mood today :( But I will add it to my list of problems hehe

If their behavior is a pattern, you can always report them to Ford. Obviously Ford has no direct control over a dealership, but they can "manage" the relationship to work better for their customers.

It was my first visit to this dealership, I wasn't greeted when I pulled up, I went inside and the service advisor was on his phone. I then told him I had an apt at 8:30am, and he asked for my name.
He then said they don't work on these vehicles, and recommended I take it to a ford dealer. I was done at that point lol. I had made the apt a week in advance, and driven 20 miles, not to mention woken up at 6am on my day off....

Maybe rubydist can shed some light on what to expect on a first visit, but doesn't seem like a Lincoln dealership would behave that way.

I went back in the next day to talk to the service manager and let him know it seems they accidentally fixed the problem. He said besides removing the drive shaft and re-installing after they drove it, they also retorqued the subframe. If I understood correctly..lift the car, break the bolts loose, set the car down, lift it back up, and torque the bolts to specs.

While I'm happy the issue is resolved, I'm not happy that they did two things at the same time...because now there's no way to tell which solved the problem.

The vibration has returned although it's not as severe and is somewhat intermittent.

While I had my car on a lift today I checked the rear drive shaft. The center bearing/bushing is obviously worn and sags. How could the dealership miss something so obvious?!
