:( Gotta get that stitched, and the bolster fixed. Only sore spot inside. :( They sure are soaking up the conditioner too!

Well, some gentle dish soap and a few terry cloth like wax applicators. Then some meguiars leather cleaner. Now I've been putting on some meguiars conditioner, but I'm not really picking anything up. :) In the front, its soaking it up like a sponge now. Trying to do it a little at a time so it gets in there evenly. The biggest thing that saved me was my tint I'm sure, I was pretty suprised its come out this good so far.

And yea, thats an old shift ****. Lights up blue. Was for my lazy travels when I had to drive for work a lot. Shifter is kinda long with it on there.. lol Still shorter than the one in my truck tho. :)

I use diluted simple green and a tooth brush to get all of the dirt out of the leather. When you gently do circle strokes on the leather with the tooth brush, it pulls the grime from out of the creases in teh leather. When this happens, the creases become smaller and some disappear. I then soak the leather in a Maguire's leather conditioner for a good 15 minutes and massage it in with my hands. Wipe the rest off and enjoy clean leather!

I did the same with my 193k '95 leather - made it look brand new again. Afterwards it really soaks up the lexol. But, yes diluted simple green can really pull all of the grime out of the leather.

Also try the solution on stained carpet. Regular carpet cleaner has nothing on it when it comes to stain removal. Not to mention Simple Green tends to smell like "new car" after it has dried up.

Simple green and mocha leather=BAD.

I used a concotion of 40% SG and 60% water and a gentle toothbrush, and I noticed almost instantly that it was taking alot of color out of the leather.

back in november I took all the seats out of my car and steam cleaned the carpets. I figured it would be a perfect time to do something with the leather so I ran down to the parts store and picked some lexol up. One orange bottle and one brown. Orange cleans and brown conditions, I cleaned each one a couple times and then applied the conditioner liberally so there was a nice film of it on the seats. When I wiped it off there were no creases and they were soft and plyable.

I used it all up that day and I have since bought Meguiars :shiver: leather conditioner, Its brand new and I've never used it. Ill give it a shot next week maybe.

Cliff notes: Simple green and leather is bad, Lexol and leather is GOOD.

Taken straight from 1 US gal. of SG
automotive use: 1oz. to 1cup of water

there are 8 oz in 1 cup. that means that you should have a 12.5% dillution ratio of SG to H2O. You had a 40% dillution ratio. That would explain why it killed your leather :nut:

Opps. Well my leather is okay, it was only one small inconspicous spot.

And By the way, I stripped mt car for the track last saturday and when I came back late saturday and I had enjoyed a few beers I decided to try the meguiars leather conditioner on the back seat and the passengers seat as they were just sitting in my living room.

I actually found a meguiars product I like. That REALLY awoke the leather! I would buy again.

I am not a big fan of Simple Green, but it works ok. Read my leather guide for other recommendations on leather cleaners.
