Pluggin' away
I've had my SHO about 2 years now, and I haven't have any real issues with the clutch (except as noted below re reverse) during that time. However, it seems now that my clutch might actually be in its twilight period and heading for full retirement.
Symptoms include:
1. Hard to shift into 5th - I have experienced some grinding for the first time recently;
2. A 'whirring" noise when I push the clutch pedal down fully, most notably when the tranny is in 2nd;
3. The clutch engagement point on the pedal has been getting higher and higher, and despite a few tricks I've read about and tried regarding the adjuster, I cannot get it any lower;
4. Since I've had the car, it has sometimes been hard to get into reverse. But I've always kind of written this off as a SHO tranny thing, since I've heard about many others with the same issue.
Something else that may or may not be relevant: since I replaced the SFBs last week, it seems that all of the above symptoms are just a little bit more noticeable. The new SFBs have resulted in the shifter having much less movement, which of course is what I want, and I'm not complaining, just pointing it out. Or maybe it could be a coincidence, I don't know.
So what do you folks think?
