I was thinking... for all of those who ponder sticking the engine into a car and making the SHO engine a RWD application, the intake would get in the way, because of the TB. Now, looking at the intake and the engine, couldnt you just take it off, and turn it around? I mean It looks like it would just fit. No real question, just wondering.

You wouldn't need to. There's a very simple solution, that's already been done in situations like this.

That's an engine shot of the new T-bird. Notice how there's a rubber tube curving around the intake. It wouldn't be too hard to fabricate something similar in a RWD application, no?

If you turned it around, the DIS would have to be relocated and grounded somehow, since it'd be in a totally different area. Coolant lines, vacuum lines, etc would also have to be custom made to span from the thermostat to the other side of the engine.

FWIW, I played with reversing the V6 intake. It will bolt up if turned 180 degrees, however you will need to fabricate spacers / risers to help the intake clear the cam chain bumps in the covers once rotated. They'll have to be approx. 1" to 1.5" high to effectively clear., but the runner ports & aligner pins look like they'll bolt up fine.

Yes, this thread is very old.

Wouldn't lengthening the runners hurt higher rpm operation? I know that the intake has been reversed in a number of custom applications. Has anyone seen a dyno sheet on one of these cars? Of course the parasitic loss of the rwd drivetrain would skew the results somewhat, as would custom headers that most of the rwd applications that I have seen use. Just curious, as reversing the intake has been polluting my mind lately.

On a somewhat related note, does anyone know what rpm range the custom intake manifold on Todd Cook's Hillclimb car was optimized for? Todd himself, if your out there.
