i have been studing the wiring diagrams for 96 to 99 taurus i have noticed a wire coming from the pcm that is w/lg along with a w/y wire on the 24v engine and it says goes to insturment cluster. and i was told that the w/lg goes to a od switch. but the sho and the reg v6 does not have this wire. and i found some insturment diagrams and it comes from the computers TCIL to the cluster but i have lost it from there. What is a TCIL and does anyone know where it goes to on the car and why dont the sho and reg v6 have that wire? just wondering i do know the sho and 24 v share the same tranny?

TCIL stands for Transmission Control Indicator Lamp.

When you want to cancel OD, you push the OD Cancel button. This grounds the wire coming from the PCM and tells teh PCM to limit the shifts to 3rd (still shifts 1-2-3). The PCM responds by grounding the TCIL wire which lights the O/D Off light on the dash.
