Today I finally got to pulling the Apexi SAFC out of the S/C SHO. After unwrapping what had to be 10 lbs of electrical tape and wiring loom off the wiring harness I have decided that whoever installed this should die in a fire. Wires were cut, half assed soldered on...etc. I Just don't trust this harness.

I have decided that I want to go with a new Main body harness. What I am talking about is the wiring harness that goes from the computer and through out the engine bay. The main parts that I want to replace where the harness goes from the TPS and MAF. The current injector harness looks untouched and I didn't ind any wires leading to the that.

Would this need to be from a 95 Specific SHO , Or did connectors change from year to year? I need to know quick, and I need to get one VERY quick. I have a deadline that I need to make to get this car started, this is the main hurdle right now.

TIA,

-Sam

I 99% sure that the engine harness is the same from '89 to '95 on the MTX cars. The front body harness is what is different.

And that is where I have trouble deciphering between the two. The Main wiring harness goes from the Computer, a few other things, the MAF, TPS and then on to the CCRM, Correct?

The front body harness goes to what....?

Sam , they are NOT all the same. Some have swapped male/female connections were it meets the other harness over the Trans. So I'd attempt to get the same year to make it the simplest. I have multiple different mtx harnesses sitting in the garage. take a pic of yours and I can see if I have a match.

Also look on harness. You may get luck and the Ford label still on it. Those numbers should ID it. I know lot of times it is gone. Maurice

Got it, Dan is parting out a 95 MTX and has already contacted me.

Another quick question, I have that black Harness cover off on the firewall, How on earth do I pull the harness now? I can't find any tabs (Or see them). Thanks.

Unscrew the 10mm bolt, pull the connector off.

Ok, I have the 10mm bolt out, I pulled it out when I originally took the cover off (The real long one). I'm pulling on the connector but it does not want to budge. How hard should I have to pull to get this off? Again, sorry if these seems like such a simple and dumb question but I really don't want to break anything.

The 10mm bolt it supposed to back the connector off of the ECU, if the bolt just came out, then the clip is missing.

Pull hard, wiggle side to side. Up and down wiggle could damage things, so if you can avoid doing that, so much the better.

I must be a idiot. The bolt is out, the harness will not come off. The computer inside the car is no longer in its white holder, but will also not come out (Unless there is more hardware holding it in that I'm unaware of, hard to see in the dash). I can't even get the damned computer out and I'm trying to rebuild a S/C SHO. FML.

Maybe the PO had an issue like he did with the rest of the car and fixed it with epoxy.
