I searched threads, did not find any that were close to my issue. Wipers work fine except when turning them off they do not go back under the hood edge, they stop all the way back to the left. They have corrected themselves each time but I am not able to find what exactly does the trick to get them to close and the amount of time varies before they do close properly. I have turned them on and off. I have shut the car off and on. Seems to be PFM. All of a sudden they just close and go to where they are supposed to. Car has been in garage all night and same thing at start up, be going down the road and turn them off and they go back to normal position. (I cant stand them off in the position to left, so I let them go in delay mode)

I checked the parts associated with making the wipers work and I found the Windshield Wiper Pulse Module. Would this thing have anything to do with it? If so where is it and what does it take to replace? Any ideas would be appreciated. I am new to the SHO world, new to this board and mechanically inclined.

If I remember correctly from my days in a Ford service department (God never again?!?) the pulse module controls the park positsion of the wiper arms. I don't remember if you can but it seperatly from the wiper motor or not. The pulse module is where I would start. I also remember a few freek times where the wiper control switch was causing the same problem but not very often.

Look at it this way it could be a Chrysler. With those things you don't know if it's the wiper module, wiper switch, BCM, clock spring or 20.5 other crazy things.

Welcome.

The wiper "interval governor" is located behind the center of dash, on the left-hand side vertical brace. A common component to any Taurus or Sable of that era. Try a junkyard, you can probably can get one real cheap.

Could be the governor, could be the wiper motor, or it could be the switch. You might try accessing the connectors to each component and giving them a "wiggle test" to see if you can get the wipers to park which would indicate an open or short.

Also, try cleaning the switch, you have nothing to lose:

I cleaned my switch several years back and it helped...excpet the switch internals are very fragile and I did brek them. Managed to get it back together OK, but it was never perfect. I replaced it a couple years back and allis now happy. Symptoms were "really intermittent" intermittent wipers - got to be rather random in how they worked/didn't.

If its your motor, a remained unit will run you about $70 from any auto parts store (save napa, theyre markup is outragous). Install is relativly easy, first remove the wipers, there is a little clip down by the base that needs to be pulled up, then they should slide off, then remove the black plastic cover below the wipers, pull out the retaining clip on the crank arm of the motor, then remove the motor (three 10mm bolts). Install is opposite, just take the time to re-align the wiper blades on driveshafts so they dont hit the side of the windshield.

This interval governor is the same thing as the Pulse Module? If so, location is by center of dash under the hood on the firewall? Black thing with a plug on the end?

Thanks alot for everyones input.
