Has anyone had their windshield wipers do a single a sweep by themselves. Mine have been doing it. It seems to happen when going from shadow to sunlight, such as when I back out of the garage. It also happens pulling into the garage.

Just had it happen today - something with the optics makes it think there's something on the windshield to wipe :)

You might try cleaning the windshield really thoroughly where the sensor is located. Maybe a spot on the windshield looks like a rain drop?

I went into the menu and turned off the auto wipers.
I didn't know that could be done! I can't, completely, turn mine off. Not a big deal until I drive through a car wash (which I shouldn't be doing anyway), but irritating

The rain sensing wipers should be a feature you can turn on and off to enable/disable the normal delayed wipers. Must not be a lot of cars out there with owners manuals. Why don't these things stay in the car? Do people collect them??

If this is turned off and the wipers still sweep something is telling the wipers motor to sweep.

The rain sensor on the windshield below your Image Processing Module A (camera that part of the mirror) emits a beam across the windshield. If water is on the windshield it affects the beam and the sensor sees this. the wipers wipe based on the sensitivity selected. You should be able to leave the wipers in the lowest setting and never have them come on unless water is present, but anything that affects the beam will cause a wipe. If the wipers are in the off position with the auto wipers on there is a problem with the system.

The mutifuction switch is attached to a module that talks to the wiper motor over a comunication circuit. There is a backup circuit if that communication circuit is severed to allow high speed only.

This is off memory so forgive me if I'm wrong.

It happened again yesterday. Driving home from work west bound at 80 or so. Sunny day. Went under on overpass, so bright sunlight, shade, bright sunlight and that triggered the wipers to do a single swipe. Very interesting.

Do you have the wipers turned off on the multifunction switch or set on to the lowest sensitivity setting

Hate to sound like a Dick, but I'll be Frank (instead of a John) I suggest you turn the system off when no rain is present.

I have had the same phantom wipes when I forget I left my wipers in the lowest sensitivity setting. The system is looking for a disruption in the beam that is across the windshield. The light/dark/light or vice versa seems to be tricking that sensor.

That is what I was suspecting. I was just wondering if others were seeing the same issue.
