I have a 92 with the factory sunroof. at highway speeds, I get lots of wind noise. I cant pinpoint where air is coming in. I thinks it's a combination from the sunroof and the doors. anyone have same problem? any ideas how to correct it? besides the wind noise which annoys me, this car is a pleasure to drive on the open road.

I checked the moldings around the doors, they look like in good shape. the seal on sunroof has a small piece missing but I dont think all the noise is coming from the roof. I'm going to put tape around the sunroof seal and try and isolate where wind noise is coming from. I was watching Speedvision, they had this tool that blew out a fog. the guy runs it along the door moldings and where the fog went into the car, that would be the leak. I wish I had that tool. anyone else have excessive wind noise on their SHO :headbang:

Some times a stethoscope can help you track down those kind of noises and also nagging rattles. Of course you will probably need a buddy to ride along or do the driving. They are not too spendy and are handy to have around for checking funny engine noises too.

I also have quite a bit of wind noise in my '91 Plus. When I upgraded my sunroof shade to a solid shade from a '94 SHO parts car that help a lot with the noise, but I still have more noise than I would like at speeds over 60mph or so.

One thing that might help on the sunroof noise is to find someone that knows how to properly adjust the fit. That was one of my grips when I bought my 90 SHO new, and the dealer was able to adjust the fit which all but eliminated the wind noise. There are several adjustments and I wouldn't begin to try it without some seasoned advice.

Yes, moonroof alignment makes a hUGE difference. But it cannot fix it all.

Just a note:

Before my suspension upgrade, I had a SHO with a saggin' butt. Wind noise thru the moonroof was minimal.

Since my suspension upgrade, non-saggin' butt, and lowered fron end, wind noise has probably doubled. Alignment is perfect, and the seal is intact.

It is an old car, do what you can, then deal with it :finger:

Yep I have a 93 and a Rolls Royce its not, I have always had alot of wind noise. I 've always contributed it to poor aerodynamics. My solution was to drive slower or tune the radio louder....2 12 inch subs do the trick! :burnout:

Yeah, speaking of aerodynamics. This may sound crazy, but I remember when I took the stock steel hood off of the '90 SHO that I had and replaced it with a glass power bulge hood from a '91 SHO, I thought that the wind noise increased from changing the shape of the hood.

wouldnt doubt it. EVERY body panel plays a big part in aerodynamics. And obviously, front facing panels especially.

Ive been doing a bit of research on aerodynamics recently, mainly in relation to the angle of which the floor pan of the unibody makes with the ground.

HUGE part. Especially at high speeds.

BTW: Stock is near perfect.

That fog machine is called a "Roscoe," named for the company that makes them. You might be able to rent one from a theatrical supply company, along with the non-toxic fluid that makes the fog. They are very cool!

I have tons of wind noise, but my A-pillars are rusted and they don't seal very well. I just put the roof rack on this weekend and now i have tons of wind noise! I have a whistle at certain speeds too, pretty annoying alright, but i can deal with it for the convienience of putting my bikes up there whenever i want...

make sure the 4 drain holes in the corners are clear. my 2 front ones were clogged causing a puddle to form on the right rear floor.

That is exactly right. I also had the same problem with the '91 Plus that is my daily driver.

Open the sunroof completly, park the car slightly down hill, take a water hose and slowly spray water in the front of the sunroof area and see if the water drains. You should be able to see water running out under the car near the fenders and front doors, if it is draining correctly. Do the same for the rear to check it.
