Will this tire work on a 8" wide rim? BF Goodrich Comp TA ZR4 Tires 255/50/17

I need to know kind of soon but it factors to be 127.5mm & OEM is 129... but is it too wide for either a gen 1 or gen 2? Please let me know.

The WIDEST tire I have heard of on a SHO is a 245, and those are CLOSE.

You might be able to squeeze the 255's onto the 8" rims, but they arent going on any SHO w/o any sort of rubbing, especially Gen I(in the rear). You'll need spacers and some rolling of the fenders at the least.

Just being curious, why would you want such a thick wall(50% of 255mm is thick) on 17" rim? Is it b/c you want to keep a decent ride or something close to stock?

I knew the answer to my question but hey just thought I'd throw it out there. What do you recommend then for a 17" tire? I currently am running a 245/45 on my gen1 now & not a problem at all but the same tire on my gen 2 was getting a little rubbing on the rear. Oh & the gen 1's rear fender I believe has been shaved down a bit. Thanks guys.

On my 95, the flares are wider than on my 93. I'm running 235/45-17's with the 95, no incidents, no trimming. I know others who have run 245's with trimmed flares. You may be able to play with offset to split the difference without trimming.

I'm running 37mm.

What you have on currently is probaly what I would recommend(245/45/17). I have 235/40/18 with no rubbing(or adjustments to fenders), 40mm offset, and a 'lil lower stance than most SHO's.

My 'maro had 8" wheels and 255-50/16 drag radials on it, but I rubbed on the front with the same size goodyear eagles, so it definitely would not work on an sho. I'd suggest either a 235-50, or a 245-45.

There would be major problems with that tire. The second number in the series(50) is the length of the sidewall in compariseon to the treadwidth. 235/45 17 is the closest to the tire height of the stock 16". 245/45 is barely over that stock size. So my 235/45 means that my treadwidth(contact patch) is 235millimeters. The profile is 45% of that. So the profile is aprrox. 106mm. If you take a 255/50, that means your sidewall will be 50% of 255mm which would equal 127.5mm. Now the problem is that you have to multiply that 21mm discrepancy by 2. That's because you have that profile between the ground and the lowest part of the wheel. And you have the profile between the highest part of the wheel and your fender. That would not work. Also, the amount of mass, the increase made by the wheel and the amount of size and weight of the tire, would hurt you rhandling and also hurt your acceleration. DON'T DO IT.
