will this rim fit?

Correct. 42mm is optimal. With an 8 inch width you will have to check for fender clearance, especially at the rear.

What generation of SHO do you have? If it's a gen I, you'll have more trouble than a gen II.

I'm running 235/45-17 on 17x7.5 wheels with a 40mm offset and I had to trim the rear fender lips. I was told very strongly, by a body man that I trust, that rolling fender lips on the Taurus is not a good idea because of the way the outer body panel is pinch welded to the wheel well liner. There's a good possibility of breaking the welds and the paint.

There is more room on the gen II, and I know of a lot of folks on the forum who have bigger wheels and tires than mine with no fitment issues. Do a little searching and reading and you should have a pretty good idea what you are up against.

Good luck!

Yea, I was thinking my car was all cool and well, until I drove up to Chicago with the woman and kid in tow, with a trunk full of goodies. I hit a bump where the road went over a bridge, and the transition wasn't done very well, and I scrapped mine a little... right about where the ground effects are at.

The more I got to looking at both sides of the car, it appears my passenger side wheel sits a little farther forward that the driver side, and it was enough to cause that... I beat my fenders up a little so if it hits now, its hitting flat steel, and not that lip.. but to get to the part where I think mine is rubbing at, I'm going to have to take that cap off the side skirt, and that last little peice of plastic off to bend that lip in a bit...

Reguardless, I gotta figure out why that wheel is sitting farther forward... seems even the same car can be "funny" about fitment.

I'll find out what the offset is on mine... I emailed the company to see exactally where these wheels I have are at.... there is a spacer on mine, so I'm assuming its not an "optimal" size..

Well.. they are TSW wheels.. :) But I did finally get a number for them, and I found out my offset on those is 40mm. Sooo.. with the spacer it was probally more like 37-38... I think I'm going to take it out and see if it dosent get a little better. Didn't have a problem last night without people in the car... that last 100 lbs makes the difference evidentally.
