Will these tires fit?

Ok I did a VERY EXTENSIVE search. I used the forum, google, friends and everything just for you guys lol, and im not kidding. Heres what I have, 7.5" wide 16" wheels with a 35mm offset. I was trying to get some 235/55/16's but they dont exhist in any of the tires I want. So im stuck with a 225 or 245/55/16. I want he 245's but am really thinking they wont fit. I am goign to roll the quarters and I do have some 3mm spacers if I need them. the tire diameter is basically the same as the stock diameter its just a hair larger. So what are your thoughts on this? I know don't buy the tires lol. But does anyone actually know if these will fit. I have read I think it was Beths tire thread, on her 225 17's that had issues and such, thread from 2002 actually haha.

I want the widest tire I can get because I want the best handling car and I also love the look of a wide tire. It gives the car such a sweet stance.

thats pretty much the exact same dimensions as far as diameter and such. The only thing im worried about is my extra half in on my wheel because that will make the tire slightly wider. You had no rubbing issues at all even over large dips in the road? How much clearance did you have near the rear strut and by the quarter? Also no problems up front either? Could you turn the wheel full lock to lock w/o rubbing? not that that matters much anyway, I think my 225's rub now anyway when im at full lock.

EDIT: just checked those there 9.5" wide and the 24 16's are 10 inches wide so that plus my 7.5" rim might cause problems.

I would go with 225/50.
1. No fitment problems.
2. Very large selection of high performance tires.
3. Shorter side wall for better turn in.
4. Quicker acceleration because the overall ratio is shorter with shorter tires.

Widest tires do not always translate to better handling if you can get sticker tires in a more popular size.

I was actually just looking at that, they make a 235/50/16. Its 1 lb lighter then the 225/55 too. The only thing im worried about with that, is it looking stupid because its to short of a tire. Its an inch smaller diameter then stock. It also throws my speedo off and clocks mileage faster, but I guess its only like 1k miles every 25k miles so its not to bad. thats a good point I guess thats an option. Id rather the 245/55 if it fits though.

Either way though, it might be close to the fenders. I myself am getting some 245 tires on 38mm offset wheels, I'm hoping it won't rub in the back and thus I won't have to roll the fenders.

I use the spacers for my winter wheels to space the slicers out a bit to clear my big brake kit

does anyone have pics of some 50 series tires on 16" wheels with eibachs? I found a few threads on it but all of the pictures were removed as they were from 2003 and such.

A 245/55 is taller than stock, would hurt acceleration, and your speedo would read wrong. I'm going to echo what Jedhead said, and urge you to just get some good sticky tires.
FWIW, the tires on my car are 225/55/16s, but they're a high performance summer tire. They are very grippy... I don't get any squeal out of them taking off quickly, just a quick slip, and then lotsa grip. I read up on the tires a lot before I bought them, and heard good things about them. They're BF Goodrich G-force Sports. I don't know if anyone else on the forum has any opinions about these tires, but I absolutely love 'em.

245/50r16 would fit with little clearance issues. I'ts almost the same as going to a 225/55r16 from the stock size. and there are more options to choose from including drag radials and track tires.

i have 225/55/16's now but there shot and I want to go wider. Those tires are 9.1 inches wide the 245's are 10 inches wide and slightly taller. as far as speed the 225/50/16 is only 21 lbs and would definitely help my car move along and brake faster.but id decided long ago that Im goign handling on this car over speed. Having the 225/50/16 would give me only a 36 lb tire wheel combo which is definitely a nice weight. If the 245/55/16's fit lid like to go that route, although the 225/50's are tempting. I think im leaning towards the 235/50/16's as I think they should fit ok.

EDIT: the tires im looking to get are the toyo t1r's, if this helps at all

they dont make a 50 series in the 245 only a 45 series and thats way to short of a tire.

yeah iv looked aroudn and found the sizes but I really want to get the t1r iv looked through 800 million tires and that what i decided on.

I asked why you need 245s

because I want the best handling car and want the widest tire I can get because of the look, thats why I NEED those tires. I really am a sucker for a wide tire so thats the main reason I want them to be perfectly honest.

I have a pic of a Gen1 SHO with Intrax 225/50ZR-16. Since you are going for all out handling, you will be going with coil overs. BTW a lighter wheel/tire combo also helps out in the handling because you have less unsprung weight and the suspension component can react faster to the road.
