Got stock slicers on my 91. I want to get a set of 225/50/16s on there? I doubt there would be a problem, but I'm asking before I buy...help?

Yes they'll fit fine but 225/55-16 is a better size for 16" rims. You'll have a slightly larger fender to tire gap with the 225/50 tires.

  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">16" rim: 225/55-16 tire = 25.7" diameter

55s just look like balloon tires (to me anyway)...question, how do you look up stuff like the diameter and speedo adjustment?

I have Goodyear Eagle 2's in 235/55/16 on factory slicers and they fit quite well. They are the exact same height as 215/60/16 so doesn't effect speedo.

1: Hehe, that's what 17" tires are for.
2: I use a calculator. I actually think I've seen a website somewhere that would do all the calculations for you and had a nice interface. If you remember some math (well the relevant math) then a calulator, pencil, and paper should do you just fine.

Edit: I remembered it was a Miata site. Yahoo search: Miata tire size and the very website I remembered was at the top of the list. Here it is: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html thumb
