Will these rims fit?

There is a recurring defect with the BFG G-Forces that can lead to sidewall to tread interface failure, cord breaking & penetrating the sidewall, and worst case, a SERIOUS blowout. I have experienced this 3 times on 2 cars, 2 sizes, 3 locations on the car, and recently had another guy at the shop blow one on his Gen 3 SHO also.

You need to inspect the sidewall of the tire, inside & outside faces, for the appearance of a "line", around / between where the tread ends and a "casting" thread is on the sidewall. If you see that hairline, look into getting the tire replaced under warranty.

DUDE - don't scare me like that!!! They only have about 1200 miles on them so now I will have to panic for the remaining 15000 (maybe 20000) miles!!! I need to investigate this since I haven't heard it before, but THANKS for the warning.

All right, I can't wait, I'm going to look now.... Is it a "Crack" like on old rubber or a "bump" like a cord is real close to the surface? ...or am I way off track...

The lower 2 arrows APPEAR to be at the normal casting line, where you'd have a "flap" of rubber that's left over externally. The TOP arrow / what appears to be a line is what you should be looking for. Imagine taking a razor blade to the backside of something that hasn't quite been cut through, yet you can see where the blade "scored" the surface.

This also shows the location of the "faultline" on the BFG's...

Entropy, what tire size would you suggest?

I have those rims and the lug pattern is off a bit. So I was wondering if anyone has tried adapters on their sho's and did that work out?

chitown, how much is the lug pattern off, enough to where they won't fit on at all or be a safety hazard??? The site I bought them from claimed they would fit the SHOs... Mingya dude, I've been staring at these rims in my living room for the past week, just waiting on the tires. Will I be disappointed when I try to put them on?!?!

I had mine installed

But the shop told me I could get them with no problem but it would be better for a front wheel drive car to have the rims that actually fit it. So what I did was went and had new holes drilled and it's perfect.

IMO, the 235 and 245 are too wide for a 7" wheel. Yes you are correct with X/Y/Z except that the Y is the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the tread width X. I have 215/50/17s on my car in the signature.

Funny, I've been running 235/45/17's on my 17X7's for 3 years now without a problem...

After taking a look at your wheels, I will most definitely go with the 235/45 combo. My only problem with these rims are if they will fit or not (rubbing issues, fitting over the calipers, if I use lowering springs later on, etc.)

For now, I guess the only way I'll know for sure if they do fit properly, is to take the stock rims off (which I will be doing tomorrow morning), and seeing if everything lines up correctly.

As everyone probably knows, the SHO's stock wheel offset is +42mm. The rims I bought are +40mm with a 'universal' 9 bolt pattern that will supposedly fit most Fords. I don't know what to expect... Hopefully everything works out!
