Since the time that this 1991 was purchased (nearly a year ago)from the original owner.....the maintenance has been a nightmare.....all the problems that this SHO has, stems from parts that were incorrectly installed or....they were not the correct parts.
Newest drama is the starter was frozen on a 1991 and fried due to incorrect solenoid on fenderwall....I mean how hard is that to spec. out....for a SHOsurgeon it should have been a no-brainer.....for me a little longer....but thanks to the OEM part donated temporarily from Snowwind which is apparently one of the only stock, OEM uncorrupted examples of SHO origin...his part did the trick and the starter is now fine,,fired right up.....
So what gives with people doing work on SHOs and being paid a premium to claim they know what they are doing and eventually the owner find out....broke down, repeat work, wrong part used, used worn part was replacement....etc, etc,
Such a damn shame...
So are there any real true SHOsurgeons out there that we can trust...

Sergio is the man to talk to... if you had work there and it still isn't running right then I bet it's not the same problem. Sergio knows what he's talking about and I'll take his advice over anyones, either on this forum or anywhere for that matter!

It's OK to be frustrated man. We all get that way when we find something wrong with our cars.

Nonetheless, don't bite the hand that feeds you. The SHO is a specialized car and by your own admission it's been mistreated by various mechanics who installed incorrect or faulty parts.

I have never had Sergio work on my car, but I have talked with him and he seems to be a very knowledgeble mechanic when it comes to these cars. He was willing to help me out even though his expertise didn't stretch to my year, something I haven't been able to find here in SA.

I highly suggest you take your car to him and let him work on it. Explain the problems you've been having and let him know what was done at his shop and what wasn't fixed properly. You might be a bit surprised.

Within the world of transmissions, Mike Kurtz is a specialist (GN and TTA) who lives in Richmond, Texas (a darn good one)who worked and re-worked on Michael Bradburn's Atx Sho. He is most likely the best tranny guy in the south. I would put him up there with Doug Lewis, as far as transmissions are concerned. Yes, I have been around for a long time.

Sergio is an all-around SHO GURU. I never would have Supercharged my SHO if I didn't have access to Sergio and he is my friend.

If Sergio really did work on your vehicle and regardless if you paid a "premium" why not contact him and inform him of your displeasure instead of coming here and not giving him a chance to defend himself. Not a good way to get things done. It seems more likely that you are here to slam him.

PC-off:

If you want to come on here and talk shit about folks dedicated to the betterment of our "grocery getters" you won't benefit from my knowledge.

This post sounds "fishy" bishy. It sounds rather "Marlene-like". Have you been reduced to becoming a troll? Somewhere a bridge is crying...because it has lost its troll.

When I lived in Houston in 99-01 Sergio saved my SHO. He saved me from all the other bastard ******** in Houston that think they know or tell you they know SHOs (I won't mention the dealerships there that sware they know SHOs but know nothing).
Plus he owns 3 of these cars himself. I think he has for gotten more about the SHO than you will ever know sho500 in your hole live time.

So how long have you owned a SHO sho500? Oh, I know it doesn't run right after Sergio fixed that flat.

sho500 are you the one that has blown two engines in that SHO by running it in the red line all the time?

Jason, could you give me the number of the transmission guy you are talking about? In the future I'd drive anywhere in TX to find a reliable place to rebuild my MTX and install my Quaife.

Sergio has touched all 3 of the SHO's I've owned, and never complained with the countless questions and wild crazy ideas that are common with newbies.
I'm sorry you are displeased with your SHO, but if Sergio had never touched your car, it'd likely have left you with less money in your pocket and broken down far more times than it has.
if my starter went out tomorrow...I couldn't blame it on anyone except the starter manufacturer.
Oh, and SHO's aren't known for their willingness to run forever without dumping some decent amounts of money into them, it's one of the evils of the SHO, but I still love em thumbs_u

well, I wouldn't want to drive to Houston for the job, but Sergio has installed 3 quaife LSD's that I have personal knowledge of. He can help ya out, and his info is above. I believe mike k. is here in houston also, but probably doesn't have the knowledge of the SHO that Sergio does.

Ehh, Sergio doesn't pick the part off the shelf, it's delivered to him from the parts place. I don't think he was the one that did the starter solenoid on the car, but even if he was, it's not his fault he was delivered the wrong part.

I've never posted to any of the SHO lists before, but after reading some of the recent slanderous posts about Sergio, I just can't read another word without at least saying something in his defense.

For those who know Sergio, I want to thank you for your kind words and for being so supportive. You all know he's a good friend and a great mechanic. He always does what he can to help, even if it means driving across town to sell you a fan motor for $20.

For those of you who don't, I can tell you the kind of person he is and believe me it's not at all what you have heard in this recent string of posts from Bishy.

He has long-time customers who will not allow anyone else to work on their cars - and their children's cars, because he knows what he's doing and is honest. Many people who bring him their cars are not even from here - and they keep coming back too.

He would never perform any work or use any parts that are inappropriate. He always discusses what he's doing to anyone's car (in fact, most times ad nauseum) and certainly would never short-change anyone.

Now, for those of you who are rigging up cable shifters with shoestrings, he would never do that himself, but he might talk you through it - heaven knows, lots of SHO owners are looking for shortcuts and can't afford a mechanic.

As to the car in question... Yes, he has worked on that car - if it's Eric Raborn's old car. But, he wasn't the only person who worked on it and there were also some cost-saving 'techniques' Eric did himself.

The other issue is the age/mileage of our cars. Mine has a long list of items we've fixed. The car is not maintenance-free. But, that's par for the course when you're driving a car that's over 10 years old, w high mileage, beating the **** out of it on a regular basis, like most of us do. :)

I'd like to see the 'evidence' you eluded to in your post. First, I'm not convinced Sergio had anything to do with your problems. Secondly, if there was a problem with any repair, all you would have to do is talk to him about it.

I don't know you, Bishy, but I do know Sergio and the things you're saying just aren't true. Sounds like to me you've been talking to someone with an axe to grind, and only ONE person comes to mind, in all the 17 years I've known him. (I guess that's pretty good odds, come to think of it.)

Too bad for you. Sergio could have really helped you out.

Hope you can find someone. Good luck with your car... Sergio's Wife, Angela
