This morning it wouldn't start. It has been getting a little harder to start over the past 6 months. Most of the time it fires right up. Since I suspected some plug well oil I pulled the front three wires to find the plugs submerged in oil. I haven't pulled codes yet since I needed to do this anyway. I am in the middle of doing the upper 60k and hoping this will give me a little more time before doing the lower 60k.

P.S here is an easy way to clean the outer surface of the valve covers. First cover in veggie oil. Scrub with sponge or scratch pad. Then use dish detergent. No smelly chemicals and you can do it in the kitchen sink without the wife ******** at you......for that.

Yeah she cranks fine. I replaced the cam sensor about 6-8 months back. At the time there was some oil in the sensor area but nothing but film on the sensor. I ended up putting the used sensor I removed into my 89 which had a truly bad sensor. Different starting issue between the two. Most of the time the 93 would fire up within 1/2 second of cranking. On rare time it would not fire up until 1.5 seconds of crank. Then it would run rough for about 5 seconds like it couldn't find idle or crud in the gas. Now I must mention that I have been using this 93 atx during the summer and just gave it back to the wife. She has a tendency to touch the gas before starting. I keep telling her that if she cant play nice with her toys I'm taking them back.

Thanks all. I did the upper 60/100k service and it started right up. Any other opinions on oil in the plug wells causing a no start?

as long as the seal between the spark plugs and the plug wire boot is good, the oil can be spilling out of the plug well tube and it'll run fine. Once that oil gets up into the boot, though, it's over...

Using the right (read: copious) amount of dielectric grease in the plug wire boots can delay the oil-misfire condition by a long time. Oil doesn't get past dielectric grease.

Well it has been 10 days back under the wife's foot and it has been starting well. We have made one addition to the car. It now has a paper sign on the steering wheel "foot off the gas when you start the car".

oh jesus... yeah, that'll cause problems. If you do flood the engine, push the accelerator all the way down while starting the car; this will force the ECU to shut off the fuel injectors, clearing the engine.
