Hi all,

I finally got my O2 sensors changed out today, but to help get the rear one changed I had to remove the long plastic cover that goes along on the top of the firewall, (the one where the EEC and ABS tester plugs hook onto when not in use, it covers some of the AC pipes and a few vacum lines). Well, when I went to put it back on, I realized I didnt have the correct clips to re-mount it. My question is, will anything get messed up if I leave it off until I can get the correct clips for it, (2 mayby 3 days tops)?

I'm in the process of doing the 02 sensors myself (getting code 176,177.) and i didn't have the right tools to get them out. What did you use? the only thing i've tried is going under the car with a 7/8 wrench or something like that, but really didn't have any room to work. I'd prefer to still get them from underneath. Thanks

Sounds like your in the same jam I was in last night, What I found worked the best was using that 7/8ths wrench you've got for the sensor that is up next to the oil filter, there's plenty of room if you look, just go from the bottom.

For the rear sensor, the one that's near the firewall, use the Oxyegen sensor socket from Advanced Autoparts, it's black and has an oval shape taken out of the side. To unplug it, go from the top and squeeze down to the sensor plug. To get to the sensor, lay on the top of the engine, squezing your arm next b/t the engine and fire wall to get to the sensor. Once the socket is on the rear sensor go from the bottom and use a bendable joint and some extensions to get the socket wrench where you have some leverage... and Bam! it'll be off.

Using the socket it, the rear sensor only took me 20 mins.
