Hey guys,

My dad was tailing me one day and he noticed that when i pull into a driveway (from the right) my passenger side rear wheel comes completely off the ground! (I am not hitting the curb in any way at all) Does anyone else have this problem? Is it normal to sho's? What can i do to fix it? I would say i enter the driveways anywhere from 3 to 5 mph. I dont wanna be going 85 on the freeway and swerve and have my car roll over.

Thanks

That is happening because of your subframe connectors. They don't allow as much flex in your frame as a stock SHO. So, for example a SHO without SFC's all 4 wheels would be on the groud, one with SFC's (like yours) under those conditions the frame doesn't flex enough to allow the wheel to hit the ground. So, unless you want to remove the SFC's your stuck with it. Don't worry it is not an indication of a problem, just a side effect.

The wheel being compressed keeps the unloaded wheel via the sway bar from drooping. So the rear unloaded wheel is not coming off the ground, it simply is not drooping to the ground. It happens on all stock sho's with the 26mm rear sway bar. The subframe connectors make the body a little stiffer and contribute also.

Here is a picture of my 91(picture taken in 1992) totally stock, except for the wheels.

hehe you all get to see the secret to the no jack tire change method :D

I have gotten my car to balance on 2 wheels before, pass front and driver rear, Car will teeter back and forth if I push on the nose.

The best is when you park your car someplace where ppl will see it with the wheel clearly off the ground :) I wish I had a camera the last time someone pointed it out to me. I was like "yeah I know, thats what happens with proper suspension mods" course I said this to a guy who pimped out his Grand Am with fart mufflers, cut springs, and more bass than should be legally allowed.

This is not such a bad thing in tight turning situations, having a stiff rear bar is what is mostly creating this wheel lift. The good thing is that weight is transfering across to the outside front greatly reducing the tire pushing out(better front grip). This is what you want. Another convienience is both wheels lift off the ground when jacking at the front lift point for easier tire/brake,ect.. maint. A drawback is-under hard braking the tire locks up when not in contact with the pavement and minor flatspotting occurs on touch down.
