Why just fix when you can upgrade

So I've decided to fix the SHO to save it from a junkyard, at least awhile longer.

I've looked over the rear suspension & at first glance it' doesn't look as bad as I thought. There are a couple pieces I will need to replace, but until I get it up in the air, hopefully this weekend, I won't know what all for sure.

So if I'm going to replace a few parts I figured I might as well upgrade all around. So what parts would be the best bang for the buck to replace on the suspension. I will be doing most of the work on the rear, but since the car made a creaking noise when braking or turning hard I think the front needs freshened up as well.

Hopefully the SHO will be back on the road in January, then I can start on the body work.

Not much to do as far as upgrades. You could replace the bushings with some TPR ones or even just OEM ones at this point. Springs may be broke as you can't really tell by looking at them. Bigger rear sway bar is always nice.

Same for the front.

Control arms can be upgraded as well. The Ingalls arms from Shosource are what I'm going to go with eventually, but you can always go with the gm arms. Just remember to grab the reducing sleeve kit from shonut.

IIRC there is some issue with the Ingalls arms and the bolt hole size at the knuckle?

I read that somewhere on the forum. I think that the stock bolts have some play in the ingalls mounting holes. I don't think that it would be that difficult to fix. It would just take a little time.

There are more mods of value available for the front suspension than for the rear. Back there upgrading the rear sway bar is the biggest possibility. Some people like to go to a 26mm. Personally, having tried it, I like only going to 23mm better, but it depends a lot on how loose you want the rear to be.

There is much more scope for modification in the front suspension. Solid bushings for the sub-frame help a good deal in reducing flex. You can also then put on an upper strut tower brace, which then gives you a solid box all the way around.
