Why is the MTX weak?

I agree, having the diff pins shear off one went through the case ande the other one got sucked into the gears It is expensive to get fixed. I just bought a used trans and got a use qualfie. Still always a little nervous about beating on it from time to time.

There is a guy i know modifying a wrx/sti trans or Lancer evo trans to bolt to our motor. He has gotten a lot done so far. Reinforced a lot and modified a lot. Once it is done it should be able to handle pretty much anything you can throw at it. :woo-hoo:

really??? nice! does it change the ratios??? hey wouldn't it be nice to get a 6 speed in.... that would be sick!

He is fabricating everything from trial and error. Modifying our case to fit sti internals is a BIG job. He is getting close to getting it on a dyno he told me a little while ago

any news on the transmission?

IDK, in theory you can mix and match first gen probe/mazda mx6 transmissions to bolt up, 3L vulcan bellhousing and a 2.2L Turbo (H-type transaxle)

IDK if those have good gear ratios, or will take high rpms, but they will take torque......plus the Mfactory diff is cheaper than what we have available. Might need to have custom axles made and the h-type is a hydro boosted clutch setup....
