Recently noticed a loud whine coming from my car when accelerating hard I’d say maybe 4500-5000rpms. Owned the car for years never heard it until recently. I’ve read that it could be a sign of turbo failure any thoughts?

Could be something on the belt drive. Like a pulley or accessory/alternator

Check the amount of slop in the air conditioning compressor idler pulley. It makes a lot of noise when it's at it's travel limit. A stretched out belt would be the culprit in this scenario. Be sure to replace with a Ford belt, not an aftermarket. Length here is critical. Cycle the air conditioner on and off with the hood up and listen. Otherwise, I vote alternator. This covers everything it could be.
