Which tire?

Okay guys...
Many of you know me and know what I have...
17x8 TSW REVOs (not sure of offset).
I had a blow out today (it was my own neglect) and I'm going to get a set of tires. I believe I had 215/45/17s on there before, but I had a lot of fender gap. When I got the 215s, I was told anything bigger would rub and wouldn't fit, but I've also been told I can go up to 245/45/17s... I was thinking of going a LITTLE bigger to reduce some fender gap and to get a bigger tire wall. I'm looking on TIRERACK and online, because I'm pretty broke. Not to mention when I was jacking up the car when it blew in the parking lot, the car fell off the jack and landed on the frame/rotor so I think I may have some bigger problems (a scraping noise [may have been the spare tire] and a foglight is out). Was not a very good day So any help in this department would be helpful. I want to spend ~$110 per tire if possible.

the scraping noise is the shield behind the rotor. It's bent from being slammed on the ground. It's pretty much a piece of tin and will bend back out. Obviously you know my suggestion for tires

Sounds like a decent analysis on the scraping. Anyone else's opinion on the tires? 225 or 235s? Sumitomo 235s are the same price as 225s right now at $97 a piece.. Let me know! PALEEAASSEE!!

I have 225 55 16 Michelin X Ones. I LOVE them. They are really really cool looking but they also perform in all types of weather.

Check out the BFG KDWS tires. They wear extremely well, but yet seem to grip like they are race compound tires. Just to give an idea - I can do a 5 grand clutch drop and they only lose traction for a sec. It just flat out goes. I'd go for 235/45/ZR17's ($135/piece). On an 8" wheel, you can go much wider, but you'd run into rubbing in the back. Good luck!

I ordered 235/45/17s today and I'm holding my ass... I'm so nervous that they won't fit and I'll have to spend $40 to send them back and pay another $40 to get 225s sent to me... Can someone validate that these 235s will fit, for both my mom's sanity and my own?

Dude, if the rims have the right offset, they will easily fit. I've run 3 sets of 235/45 ZR17 tires on 2 different sets of rims, one 17x7.5, the other 17x8. That's on a '92. And they look especially good because they barely tuck under your rear fenders. Load up the car with 6 people, subwoofers in the trunk and other crap, no rubbing at all.
