Is it part of the fuel pump itself, or located somewhere else? pcorn

preventative maintainance and troubleshooting is not wasted time nor money. if you feel like thats the case, sell the car and ride a bicycle. knowing cars and working on cars, not just the SHO, is a never ending classroom session. youre always learning and reapplying. some times you may feel like you wasted your time/money, but did you learn something ?Ferendon:
My roommates Gen I did that exact same stuff shorlty before the relay went. Dealer wanted $200+ for it, AutoZone and O'Reilly's didn't have it. Got it at a boneyard for $50. Still steep for not knowing if it will work or not. Good luck with it man, it's not hard to change... once you have the part. That's all after we took the time, to drop the tank, install a new fuel pump ($80), filter ($3), and new lines... 8 hours and $100+ wasted. Don't make that mistake...

Bob,
Try cycling the key several times to RUN, then back OFF again before hitting the START. This will help to pressurize the system by cycling the pump several times. If this helps with the starting, then you might have a fuel pressure delivery problem, the source of which would need to be properly diagnosed.

Would you prefer to have your doctor go ahead and perform open heart surgery on you instead of properly diagnosing a problem just so he can learn something new?
Hopefully, Ferendon and friend learned to properly diagnose the problem before jumping to the scalpel.
In this case, a simple fuel pressure guage is the first diagnostic tool needed.
