does anyone know where to find the little circular clip that goes on tranny end of the half shaft? The currant axle is only 4 months old, but after changing the clutch i am struggling to get the axle all the way in (pinky width away) :cuss:

It is looking more n more like ill need to just get another axle. dont think i can just remove the clip.

any help would be so very helpful.

If the clip is missing, then yes, new axle time. If the clip is there, nut up and push harder.

Seriously. Push harder. It'll go in.

so get it in the best i can and put the axle nut on slowly? I was about to hammer but id rather not. I was thinking of putting it together, put wheel n tire on and set it on the ground a bit to see if it snugs up. I just dont want to hurt the internal parts by forcing it in.

I still have to try the circlip down trick. thanks for the help. ill try it

Before going any further, check the splines on the shaft. If the clip ends up riding high, forcing the shaft into the transmission (especially if you pound on it) can mushroom the ends of the splines in the clip groove. I used to work with a guy would reliably do this about every fourth time he installed a halfshaft. No SHOs damaged by hammer boy, but it's worth a check anyway.

I've kept the clips from various halfshafts I've returned under warranty just so I would have a spare.

Well it drives and wheels spin. I dunno. The gap between the trans and axle is bugging me. Doesn't seem to be leaking fluid either. Unless an axle would hinder first gear occasionally its onto that issue.
