Just like the title says. Ford dealer only? And about how much do they cost?

Just did it a week or so ago - have fun and Redline's ^^^^ write up is an incredible help!

I pulled my invoice and List is $68.52 You should be able to get it cheaper than that unless the counter guy is a tight-a** (I got mine for $61.75 - just north of 10% off).

I gave up on my BDA. Worked with Ford Parts Network for four months and every time I got the wrong part. Dealer didn't know what I was talking about either. sigh.

Anyway, as long as you have a Gen II so you should be fine. I think Gen Is are out of luck now.

IIRC, you were running into a problem with the harness connector, right? Is there anything else about the Gen II BDAs that is different than what you have in your Gen I?

If it's just the connector issue, did you consider whether it was possible to splice the Gen II unit into your Gen I?

The unit physically fit perfectly, but you are spot on. It was the harness that was the problem.

The Gen 1 has a harness with a connector on one end and the other is soldered onto the circuit board of the BDA. I looked at it and I would need the connector from the harness on the Gen 2 unit and then I could splice it. I thought instead of doing that I'd toss the old one back in since I didn't know if mine was bad or not. I'm banking that it isn't :), otherwise the dash will have to come out again.
