Well I just finished replacing my Blend Door Actuator, and as I was cleaning up all my tools, I discovered this metal clip. Trouble is I took the car apart about 3 weeks ago, and I can't remember where it goes! Hopefully somewhere fairly easy to get to, I don't want to have to pull the whole dash apart just to put it back. :frown: At least is the only "extra" part I had when I got done!
Anyway, does anyone know where it goes?

Looks like it came from that vanety cover that goes under the glove box area. I'm talking about the black panel with the foam on the back side.

How is your parking brake handle? That clip holds the part of the parking brake lever into the dash so that when you pull the cable it doesn't pull the whole piece out with it. In order to put it back correctly just pull out the panel with the Auto lights/dimmer switch on it. Once that panel is removed the parking brake cable is behind it, and you put that clip around the fat part of the cable and it holds it to the dash.

Hmm, thats probably it. The cable for the release handle has been broken for a while and I have to use a string to release my parking brake. Thats prolly why I havn't noticed it. Well thats good to know. Nothing serious to worry about until i fix my release handle cable anyway! Thanks!

yup. you beat me to it. Thats exactly what it is.

I've taken many of those clips out as my wife keeps breaking the cable....well she did it once, but I make like she did it 10 times cause it was just so surprizing to see her do it.

What did you do to fix the cable? Did you get a replacement? If so, where? Thanks.

It was quite hilarious actually. We were in the 90 SHO and she was gonna drive. She let the clutch out and the car stalled in the driveway. I said "you need to pull the brake release cable". She started the car, reached down, pulled the release and the cable snapped leaving her with handle in hand. Without missing a beat, she handed me the release lever and backed out of the driveway like it was normal. I said, holy cow, someone ate their wheaties today. She said "thats not supposed to happen?"

ahhh.....no hun, its not.

So did you end up having to pull the whole dash out as the general consensus states? I have seen one account stating that it can be replaced through the dual DIN radio openings and the glove box...
