No, I don't think it is the water pump leaking on the CPS. Here is the deal - I can start up the car when cold no problem, starts every time (so far). A few times, no every time, when I stop somewhere, turn the car off and come back to it in a short amount of time, i.e. 30 minutes or less, the car won't start. It cranks over, but no catch. If I floor the gas pedal (disabling the fuel injectors) after the 2nd or 3rd crank, it will fire up and run no problem.

Any ideas? It has 113k on it, 1993 MTX. I purchased it not that long ago, and did a tremendous amount of maintnance on it, i.e. 60k service, many oil leaks fixed, plugs and wires, clutch. So every part of the motor besides removing the heads was pretty much touched :) thoughs?

Two things you can do. Check for any codes. Check my sig for info on that. You can also check with a fuel pressure gauge how much pressure leaks down after you prime the pump. Can you hear any gurgling from the gas tank when the fuel pump is priming?

I will check the codes tongiht and see what I have got. In reference to the fuel pump it has a quite interisting and loud hum to it, but I checked the fuel pressure the first time I had this problem and it was right on the money at 39 psi. I left the gauge on there for a while > 30 minutes and it really didn't drop more than a hair or two :)

Hopefully the codes will tell me more. Thanks!

Your symptoms are very similar to what I experienced when my CID went bad. Cold starts, no problem. Warm starts, intermittent problems.

You may have no code for awhile, but if you let it get bad enough it will show up as a 214.

Cheap part. The Wells part from AutoZone has been used successfully by lots of people. Pretty easy to replace, as well.

This is all assuming nothing mechanical (fuel pump, etc.)

Good luck,
