When you want to clean out the carbon build-up in the lower intake manifold where your secondaries are, is it a good idea to take it off (upper manifold) piece by piece, or take it all off at one time. I was looking at the diagrams and see the upper intake has a few pieces to it where it has two gaskets that are the same that fit in between two pieces. So here's my main question, can I get to the lower intake manifold without having to change any gaskets on the upper intake?

Take the surge tank and the horns connected to it off as one piece. Then the two horns connected to the LIM. Then the LIM. You can just disconnect the fuel lines and leave the fuel rail and injectors on the LIM.

Also the throttle body and the 90 degree part should stay as one piece.

Awesome, thanks. So should I just replace the two LIM gaskets then and take my UIM gasket back?

I reuse all my old gaskets. Just clean them up and apply a fresh coat of paint.

one quick question, when I put the intake back on, should I be using my manual torque wrench, or an Impact Wrench?

I just use a 1/4" drive socket setup. An impact wrench would strip all the threads if you don't watch it.

Be sure to tighten in the right sequence. Start in the middle and alternately work out.

should you just snug the manifold bolts or use the touque wrench? Also, what is a good kind of cleaner for the intakes? I have the el cheapo engine degreaser from wal-mart.Will that work or will it discolor the intake paint? Thanks a million.

With that, when taking off the manifold's, they are pretty "tight" on there, so how should you get them off? I was watching a TV show where they were taking a roadster engine apart, they just got it off with a pry-bar, should I do the same? (Of course, being very careful.)

#1 be sure all the bolts are out. Then hit it with a rubber mallet or some other soft destructive device.

Yup, sticking a prybar or screwdriver where it don't belong can bend or damage the metal gaskets. I usually give my intake or surge tank a whack with a rubber mallet to dislodge it. :)
