My drivers side rear wheel took a hit from something. It actually created a divot. Now I have a wheel with a peeled back piece of metal. Wondering if I should file it down with a Dremmel tool or something as it is very sharp. Anthing I can do?

Things like that are annoying. I actually own a OEM and Custom Wheel and tire shop. I know that there are independent companies that travel around to local body shops to fix things like that. However, I will say that this wheel is a Hypersilver finish and takes a special paint process to get the color that it has. Those guys that do the work at the body shops essentially put a band-aid on it....sometimes it looks perfect other times you will notice some discoloration because they cannot match the finish.

I will say that the only way to get this particular finish to match is to have the whole wheel refinished. Unfortunately it takes a few days for them to redo a hypersilver finish wheel. If you interested in for information send me a PM.

I'm no expert, but that sounds like a good plan. You can touch up the spot with any automotive touch up paint that is the correct color. Perhaps Ford even sells it.

Bumped a curb with one of my G8's. Sanded down the 1 1/2" scuff and clear coated area.
Not perfect but can't see it at 5 feet. Good reason to buy custom wheels!

You have several options available to you. You can find DIY repair materials through several sources, such as Eastwood.com or your local auto paint suppliers and/or auto specialty stores. You can also locate local companies that will repair the damage for you. Check with your local dealer for firms in your area or you can search through national firms for local operators. An example is Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists(awrswheelrepair2.reachlocal.com), who have local operators that will come to you. One important tip, have your wheel rebalanced after the repair. Good luck! :salute:

The only place that sells the tough up paint for the wheels are from here

http://www.paintscratch.com/cgi-bin/makepaint2.cgi

I ask Ford about the paint for my wheels and they said

What paint for the wheels? We don’t sell paint for the wheels.

I laughed at them because every vehicle they sell uses the same color for the wheels of today.

I got touch-up paint for the wheels from them and although it is close, it isn't a perfect match. From 5 feet, it's hard to see, but up close you can see the difference, although, it does look a lot better then the black left when something dings the wheel.
