AEM is supposed to be an awesome kit....

And in concur with BPDs statement... just went through this myself..

You can always call Alky Control to get a quote for the SHO kit. They don't list it on their site but it's available.

I just sent Julio an email inquiring how much the Alky kit is without going through LMS... I will post his reply.

LOL No flame, but you really have to do your research, LMS is certainly more expensive then the other providers but from what I have heard and seen there customer service is pretty awesome, they are very proactive on social media answering customer questions, and they do a lot of product development. I understand your disappointment BUT keep in mind we are talking about very expensive components on a very expensive motor, my guess they would tell you its very easy to destroy someones engine and there components are designed to be safe an work together. What happens when someone uses there tune an another manufactures meth kit and the engine detonates. Next thing you know they get blamed and it might not even be there fault. In addition you really should have known that once you put a tune on a car it will not pass emission test, that has been well documented an discussed out here and on other forums. In fact if you do your research you will learn most aftermarket down pipes even the ones with cats will throw codes and cause you to fail which makes no since to me ether. Just my two cents, Have a great day.

While I agree with most of what you stated, you are wrong that cars will fail emissions with an aftermarket tune.

The vehicle i traded in to get the sho was a 06 mustang built to the MAX with hot rod lopey cams, full length headers, high flow cats and a tune on an SCT tuner.......It passed no problem. The reason LMS tunes fail is because they turn the rear O2s off which is entirely unnecessary for a car this lightly modded with factory exhaust and cats. I would just expect a company that does the volume of tuning that they do that clearly has pre made tune files from various customers from various states to figure out which states you can turn stuff off in a tune and which ones you cant, and if they dont maybe look into it because not all us old guys feel like returning everything to stock every year to get plates. Ok Im off my pedestal lol.

That said I guess I'll be looking at the Alky kit because I cant justify dumping another $1000 down the drain on a new setup.

And again, Im really not knocking LMS, in fact Im rocking their LMS sticker on the back, so LMS if you are reading this I'm not slaming your company just frustrated a bit.

That's really weird... I had the opposite problem.. I have high flow cats that set off the CEL due to inefficiency... I had to keep getting LMS to disable the rears... all the tunes they sent me had the rear O2s enabled...

What state? Mine is one of the toughest. I had high flow cats but had the spark plug adapter mod which has proven to let the high flows pass

VA... but it doesn't matter... if they are disabling the rears it never get into a ready state...

Do you have the stock cats on it?

Look into the spark plug adapter mod. Most of the LS guys do it on their long tube cars with high flow cats

I'm beginning to regret getting an LMS tune at this point. Their basic tune on a basic stock Taurus won't pass emissions and now I'm learning I can only buy THEIR meth kit. Hmmm...Kinda feel like I wasted $1000 on their setup. Oh well. I'm sure I will catch plenty of flame for those comments. I'm sure they are great company and all but why should I have to buy their meth kit when the one I want comes equipped with far better stuff for less $$. Sounds like a solid marketing plan for them.
That is the ONLY reason I didn't go LMS with the stuff for my SHO. I wasn't sure how far I wanted to go with my mods or where I wanted to get them from so I stayed away. They absolutely make great products but you have to be sure you're only going to support their company if you start down the path.

Hey man its your money so if your not happy with the product then I get that, but comparing a 06 Mustang and GEN4 SHO is not really fair comparison, its kind of apples and oranges. The EcoBoost is a very different motor then has been used before, I will take your word for it on the O2 sensors but I do know that LMS tune NOT passing inspection has been discussed out here to a point where the horse is not only dead but there is a hole in the ground where his body was and someone used to installed a pool because it was so deep. Anyway its all good, makes for good conversation.

If you have stock cats, as long as the rear O2 sensors are NOT turned off in the tune, you should be able to reach a ready state, and pass emissions.

The issue at hand is that LMS has DISABLED the rear O2's on a car with stock exhaust thus the car never reaches a ready state. This is completely unnecessary and I am shocked that A: they did that and B: they won't turn them back on...

As I have said, when I worked with LMS it was a simple email for them to disable or enable the rear O2 sensors.. have done it several times with them.

Anyway back to the topic... probably won't hear from Julio until tomorrow.

Well that sucks I can only go with LMS's Alky kit..........I really like how the Snow Performance Stage 2 kit comes with a multi purpose boost/meth guage.
I have the snow kit I like it no problems on my trunk install

The lms tune must be a different animal because the SCT tuner only takes about 7 to 9 minutes to install or uninstall a flash. In the time it took me to read those posts I could have flashed my car twice. Is it more complicated or takes longer to run? If you do have the three bar you would have to put the two bar back on it but that is only one screw

Yea, it's same amount of time to flash. It's just a matter of GETTING the tune from LMS... not the flashing process.. at least in my experience...

Apparently the 2013+ cars have a readily available meth tune where as the 2010-2012 cars do not have one readily available. Which means they need to create a new tune for you.
