Well im picking up my sho some time this week, it has been at the guys house im buying it from and has been sitting with no clutch in it for like a year and a half 2 years. It does run and has new intake gaskets and such. Ive never ownded an sho, and i forgot the milage, but what should i look for in the car? The person im buying it from is pretty much my dads best friend, because i know some would think why didnt u write down the milage and you dont know how they took the tranny out and such but its all ok. Its an 89 sho, black, black leather, paint looks pretty good, interior looks good besides the driver seat is a little torn. I have acess to a full shop, and a machine shop with all sorts of machines that make diffret parts, like brackets, and spacers and stuff like that, what could i make in the shop, i was thinking of cutting down my shifter. They have a bridgeport machine there, could i port anything out on the motor on the bridgeport? Why in some magizines that sell sho parts does it say 90 sho MTX and not 89? Also what does mtx mean, i know its manual tranny but wuts the x?

yea it has to be an 90 since 89's didnt have black interiors. But things to look for on your new sho would be to find out if the 60k service has been performed. Also this forum has a FAQ that has alot of basic information about the sho listed...you should check it out. sounds like you will have a nice sho when its all back together.

Good place to start like just recommended would be to perform all the basic repairs under a 60K. Timing belt, water pump, CKP (crankshaft position sensor), spark plugs, spark plug wires, and definitely a valve lash adjustment. More than likely the car has 190K miles on it. I currently own a 95 which is about to hit 90K, so I seriously doubt an 90 would only have 90K on it unless it's been sitting for a very long time (way more than 2 years). Well congratulations on your new SHO and I wish you the best of luck with it.

i think it may really have 90 tho miles on it since the guy im getting it from got it from an old lady who had the car sitting in a garage since her husband had passed, the paint on it really doesnt look bad, i bet a nice buff will make it mint. The interior doesnt even show alot of wear, thats why im thinkin the low miles may be true... well i hope so :D
