I'm putting in a new clutch and flywheel. I am thinking of going with the Fidonza 9lb FW. I have found some online for $300. It is a street SHO for now, not a daily driver. Eventually i do plan on making this a track day car. First, Is this a good FW selection? Second, is that a good deal on the FW?

The fidanza has some problems with the dowls being too long and in a few cases ebing out of flat.

We offer one that does not have any of these problems and weighs 1lb less: SHO Source

We also offer a 17lb steel flywheel.

Does yours have the replaceable friction plates as well, or would i have to eventually buy another FW?

You can replace them , Last time I did , I got them from ultrarev. But you have to look up the number in the fidanza catalog before oredering , cause its not listed for the SHO on ultrarev.com.

I have a new Ford one in my classified ad, less than $100 shipped to your door.

As for the Fidanza, the dowel problem is not a huge deal, as long as you do not install it with the problem. You can check the dowels by easily throwing the pressure plate on top of the flywheel like you are installing it. You want the pressure plate to seat flush with the flywheel. If there are any little gaps or big gaps, all you do is grab out the grinder and grind down the dowel pins within one minutes worth of time. This is what you want to do with any flywheel, in any case. Fidanza has been in the aftermarket for years, always having replacement inserts. You do not have to worry about this company closing up shop and having to source a new flywheel or insert from elsewhere. However, the lighter weight the flywheel, the more prone the flywheel is subject to flexion. A few supercharged SHO guys have thrown their Fidanzas out in favor of stock flywheels because of this problem.

What mods do you have done to the car?

I just got my 94 SHO and haven't done any engine mods, yet. Mostly just replacing the clutch, subframe bushings, SHO Shop Y pipe, motor mounts, and soon to be flywheel. After these mods are finished up i am going to start with the intake system. I am looking for a good flywheel because my eventual goal is to have a pretty beefy SHO. If i need to replace it now i might as well get a good one, right?

The stock flywheel is the best for general use. Often, you need the weight at the flywheel to maintain momentum and dampen out the pulses of the engine. The ultra-lights serve one purpose only, and punish you all the rest of the time.

Or there is the 17lb steel billet flywheel that is as strong as stock but still get the reduced weight.
