I just got a 94 3.2 engine with 51,000 on it and whil I got it out what are som cheap mods to get 300 hp out of motor if possible, also with the engine out, I want to do some tranny work. what can I do to the atx to beef it up a little or is there another type that I can put in it to handle the engine?

I'm pretty sure they'll be many to follow in saying that there's no such thing at "cheap mods" to get this motor to the 300 HP mark. Although the 3.2's in the ATX cars maintenance service period comes at 100K, it wouldn't hurt to get some of that stuff out of the way now. As for the tranny, contact Doug Lewis at FPS. For $3K (I think), you'll have a tranny that you could throw just about anything at.

These motors don't take to the "conventional" mods very well unless your going to boost it which won't be "cheap". The best bang for your buck mod out there is Nitrous. Just have a spare tranny handy if your using the stock one. Either way, you have the right mind set on beefing up the transmission. Good luck in your ventures!! :thumb:

PS: I think this is posted in the wrong section!!

for a N/A motor 300 flywheel HP is something around 1,5 to 2,5K$

Thats if you do it yourself. Really doupt the ATX will reach 300hp N/A with all bolt ons.

Thats my goal here. but with a MTX.

This makes no since. The ATX starts with a larger motor already. The transmission only takes away the power that is applied aft of it. If you can get one motor in the 300hp range NA, then you can most certainly get the other to do it too.

Im using a 3,2 coupled to a MTX , and im getting ALL bolt ons. (cams-BBBs-maf-porting-etc-etc)

Even with all that , I still have doupts on getting the magical 300 flywheel HP (260-270 HP on dyno). The SHO engine is already "maxed out" OEM , so its harder to get more HP outta it (unlike the 302)

You should be looking for a MTX before adding any HP in that slushbox. Some ppl here have it done , but it involves some serious $$$.

The ATX can barely stand the 220 HP factory, some serious mods in it is gonna **** it if you dont bullet-proof it.

In my book , not worth it.

Ditto that...these transmissions weren't even made for 220HP, let alone 300.

If you're planning on keeping the ATX mated to a 300HP motor, be prepared to rebuild it soon. It won't last.

But once you bullet proof the tranny, you'll have one mean-machine.
