in my 94 MTX, i avg around 220 per tank with a constant 16 gal refill... 80% aggressive city and 20% highway cruisin at around 85 with several bursts to over 120 ;)

in the 98 Mustang GT, I get a constant 320 miles per tank with a 15.5 gal fill up... about the same type of driving as the SHO

In my 83cc moped, i can get around 50 miles per tank with a 1/2 gallon refill i do 100% city and non stop red line action

My '98 is not the best. 14 to 16 now but 90% of my driving is city and my car idles alot at the fire station when it is cold so the numbers are not that acurate. In the summer I dont leave it idle as much and city is in the 17 to 21 range. Beat I've ever seen on the freway on a road trip was 30 with a 5 mph tail wind.

I typically see an average of about 22mpg, but I'm probably about 75% highway, 25% city.

To/from the Lapeer in Oct. I averaged just over 27mpg. With tuning I see about a 2mpg increase over stock programming.

Oh no, no, no... That was 34 MPG!!! :nut:

Of course he never mentioned that it was achieved while driving down the side of a mountain with a tailwind to assist too. Home-made "ram air". Puhleeze. The world is full of morons, a disproportionate number of them drive SHOs...

I more recently picked up my '96... knowing a little bit about the cars from previously wanting one and being on the V8 mailing list, so I had an idea of what they got for gas mileage. The tank I bought the car with got around 260 something on it, and that brought me to about 1/4 tank or just under. I didn't figure out the MPG on it, figuring I'd start from the first time I fill it myself.
Well, I haven't seen a 200 back yet! First tank I checked and got 15.6 :oogle:. Granted, it was almost all city, and a different car and I got my foot in it a bit to hear the motor, and to get moving... mainly to get moving. Plus I figure I know 'winter gas' usually kicks the mileage down... so I just threw that first one out the window and thought I'd check the 2nd time.

The 2nd time... still mainly city... 16.4. Hmmm. Well maybe we'll do better the next time I figured. So I just filled the other night and checked... 16.8. Geeze!
I was hoping for a little better than this. A talk with the previous ower gets me wondering if something is wrong, being that he usually got 18-22 with it.
I dunno though... maybe it's just me??

I usually see anywhere from 19-24 in my V8 depending on what i do on that tank of gas. Nothing too spectacular but not bad for an 8 cylinder.

EDIT: I guess I should add that on most occassions the bulk of my miles are hwy...but then again its never really consistent.

From full to light I get 19mpg/300 miles per tank (14 gal on refill to top off). I have an 18 gal tank (Gen II). I no I loose a little mpg since my Gen II is slightly heavier. My driving is a modified highway (straight shot 55-65mph 18 milles with 4 stops going to work and 3 on the way home).

I did get almost 30 mpg on one tank when in the prairies, driving a constant 110kph in virtually a straight line for hours and hours. The real joke was when they did a warning sign about 'curve ahead', and you waited, and waited, and eventually the road barely arced off a bit to one side or the other and then barely arced back. :)

However, as a normal thing I am about the same as Chris, that is low 20s in mixed driving and mid 20s in highway driving. From what I have read from others over the years, this appears to be pretty standard. When I was out east, and there was a major temp change between seasons, I would get slightly better milage each year in summer, and it would decline a bit in winter, but out here on the left coast the change does not seem to be enough to make that happen and now the numbers are pretty much the same all year round.

i was just wondering becuase when i bought it the guy said that he was getting like 20mpg's when he drove it everyday, when i filled it up for the first time i think i only went a little over 200 on the tank and got like 16.5 and then i just filled up again and got like 15, it did sit for like a month before i got it, so i did run some sea foam through it and most of my driving was city type with my foot on the gas a bit, so this next tank im going to granny it and see what i get. O yea finally sold my jeep so this week im going to be lookin for someone to weld the cams finally, i can't wait till its done it will be like a wieght is lifted off.

I just took a 1400 mile trip in my Willow Green 96. Alone with an empty car in 40'F weather. I was running between 70 and 80 MPH the whole time. I got a steady 22 MPG.
Last summer I took the family on almost the exact same trip with my 96 Rosemist, loaded trunk, 4 passengers, 90 - 100'F outside AC on full blast the whole way, 70 - 80 MPH the whole way. That SHO got 26 MPG.

huh.

Best I've gotten was nearly 27 with a steady cruise of 60mph. Usually though its anywhere from 18-22 mpg, not the best, but after being gone from the car for two weeks I remember why I love it.

~18mpg city usually
~22 city & highway

Around town I typically see 16-17MPG

Just a thought for those of you that are only getting mid teens, are you running your tire pressures a bit low, perhaps? With my current suspension setup I am running 36 front, 32 back, and fuel consumption can be pretty sensitive to tire pressures.

Which I suppose brings up, what is everyone running for tire pressures?
