What is involved when Removing the Rods from the shifter?

I am planing on removing the "Rods" From the shifter of my 92 MTX, I Am curious to know as to how hard it is, How long it should take, And what is involonlved, any help is appreciated. Thanks.

when i broke my shifter rod i had it professional done. but the mechanic did said they had to lower half the trans to fix it. but good luck. its a tough one but you'll save yourself a lotta money

There is no nead whatsoever to lower the trans.

IIRC, I was able to remove a rod shifter from a parts car with a few extensions and a deep socket. Part of it will be throught the drivers side wheel well.

Get the thing up on ramps and take a look. It isnt all that diffucult to do once you can see what you have to deal with.

I busted the thing inside of the shifting box that the shifter goes into andI had the whole thing off in like 20 min.


but I also have a lift and had great access finger
